♻️ It's time for a reboot!

vfxui got created back in 2019, to allow the rapid creation of reusable PySide based dialogs in a VFX pipeline environment.

It was created from the beginning under the MIT license to be ready for the planned open source release, but so far never actually made it out into the wild.

This reboot is intended to be a fresh start, with no backwards compatibility.

A significant portion of active internal production pipeline code depends on the original design of vfxui.
But this step has been communicated for a long time and private forks are available to fulfill these needs.

Goal

Discover available binding and directly provide it as a pass-through import.

• Prefer Qt.py, but do not depend on it.
• If Qt.py is not available, prefer PySide6 over PySide2, over PyQt5.
• Do not directly support PySide/PyQt4 anymore. (It's 2024, after all...)

Goal

• Define the repository structure.
• Release a version 0.0.0 to PyPi, to reserve the package name.
