This example works in the development version of tidytable. I should have it on CRAN in about a week or so.

devtools::install_github("markfairbanks/tidytable")

library(tidytable, warn.conflicts = FALSE)

example_dt <- data.table::data.table(
  "x col" = c(1,1,1),
  "y col" = c(2,2,2),
  "z col" = c("a", "a", "b"))

example_dt %>%
  mutate_across.(where(is.numeric), as.character)
#>    x col y col z col
#> 1:     1     2     a
#> 2:     1     2     a
#> 3:     1     2     b

Note there's a small change in syntax where you have to wrap predicates like is.numeric with where(is.numeric). The old way will still work for a bit, but tidyselect (which dplyr & tidytable both use) made this change in their newest version

from tidytable.
