maps4html.github.io's Issues

Layout bug?

Not sure what's going on here, potentially a Chrome bug, or because I have experimental features active (will look into it later). The issue is not easily reproduced; can't see all content at times:

Mention Geography Markup Language?

Clearing out browsers tabs, I was reminded of GML which I think @prushforth tweeted about some time ago.

I wonder if we should mention it somewhere, it may be valuable to show Web Standards developers that there has been similar efforts in the past, especially since the document was hosted by the W3C.

Make this a website

Currently there's no overarching website for the CG on github, just repos for specs and components etc. It would be ideal to have a home page that provides links to specs, resources, discussions, community etc.

Currently this location simply redirects to the use cases document.

Use custom domain (maps4html.org)

Per Maps4HTML/HTML-Map-Element-UseCases-Requirements#49 (comment), the community group currently has a custom domain name, but it currently redirects to the community page on w3.org (https://www.w3.org/community/maps4html/).

Do we want to set up GitHub pages to use the custom domain? (So that it would show https://maps4html.github.io/) It would require setting up a security certificate, which I think is the only hassle. Also, an agreement to keep the domain alive if we want to use it as the primary URL.

Related W3C Groups

There are many groups that in some ways relate to the potential standard of web maps, some a little closer:

Is it worth to list (some of) these as related groups? And/or invite the participants of some of the groups to also join Maps4HTML CG?
