Exchanges your IP via a OpenDHT.

Just run wg-quick up wg0 and then sudo wireguard-p2p on both peers. wireguard-p2p will determine your current public IP, exchange it via OpenDHT, set the endpoint to a localhost port and proxy packages between both peers.

Install

cargo install wireguard-p2p

Dependencies

OpenDHT

OpenDHT will have to be discoverable by pkgconfig

Follow the build/install instructions here

dht bootstrap node

Hi,

In Readme:

setup wireguard interface

sudo wg-quick up wg0

start client

sudo RUST_LOG=wg_p2p wg-p2p -i wg0

How do you use wg-exchange to provide the DHT bootstrap node's address?

I can try --help with wg-exchange but would rather not go thru the hassle of building everything and then finding out that there is no way to setup the OpenDHT bootstrap address(es)

Maybe it just walks me thru it once I run it?

Compilation error while building with docker.

Hi,
I'm trying this into docker container as per your latest code but failed to compiled because of some type mismatch! (I'm poor in Rust Language ;)
Please guide if I missed anything important like libs.

Dependency setup woes on Arch Linux

Hello @manuels,

i wanted to build your code, but it threw an error on compiling opendht. Can you see, what error i am getting here?

Any chance we can get a .deb that can be installed on Ubuntu 22.04?

I got it to work by installing these three packages from bionic:

But there might be a reason why they haven't been included in newer LTS releases (focal and jammy).

It would be great if there was a plug-and-play solution for Ubuntu 22.04 ("jammy").

The following packages are available on jammy:

  • libhogweed6
  • libnettle8

Unfortunately I don't know whether their APIs are stable between major releases.
