App is amazing. It has almost everything one can ask for in a Note taking app. You can change the view type in the main screen. Batch selection is there as well. Search is up there. But some things that must be added.
Feature Requests.
It would be great if the archive and delete features work together at the same time, as in the method of Gmail mail.
This may be irrelevant at this point, however I can't see a way to restore a backup in Another Notes, though backing send to be working as expected.
Additionally, I wonder whether it is feasible to add support for importing backups from other note taking apps, provided they do not use a convoluted scheme.
Notally backs up it's notes to a basic XML, and can export individual notes as either plain text, HTML, or PDF (not relevant), for an example of something that can be imported.
If you are interested, I can copy the raw XML contents of a backup of two notes (one regular, one list) just for this issue (I temporarily installed Notally on this device for this).
I suggest you add a shortcut to the app in the text selection context menu for the purpose of saving the selected text without having to open the Notes app (save in place), this method is easier and faster than the copy, paste and share features, and it avoids you from the tedious process of switching between apps, I like this feature and I used it in Previously another app.
and this is a video to explain:
can you make every time you create a note will be saved in android / data or custom directory directly?
and the note format is ".txt"
then for the task. There is a bar that shows what percentage of tasks have been ticked
thank you
When a reminder alert is received, the following steps result in a screen spasm and no response to clicks, except for the navigation bar:
The blank note is not ignored when I leave the editor open and then close the app from the recent apps list.
How should I go about translating Another Notes App
(should I find the time to do so)?
Just translate values.xml
and send it in an additional values
directory corresponding to my language via a pull request?
I have made an issue to Floris Board about can not getting the spell checker working on my samsung device. That has been mainly resolved but I have noticed spellchecker acts weird in this app.
This is how it goes:
I create a wall of gibberish with underldines indicating spell checker noticing that. But while writing after a while underlines start disappearing.
After exiting the app the lines are gone, unless I make another gibberish word somewhere (lets say in the middle of the words of gibberish) and press space. It gets highlighted, and If I click on it a FEW worss get highlighted BEFORE the new highlighted word.
As the following:
I have selected the last highlighted words and you can notice none of the other words are highlighted. If I create more the last underlines start disappearing after another. This can change from row to row depending on the last word selected. It might depend on the amount of words or letters highlighted before.
Also while writing a new word and having no space after that ALL the highlights disappear. They only reappear after adding a space after the last written word.
I'm on Android 11, OneUI 3.1, Galaxy A52s 5G, latest F-droid release.
Data import is not working, at least with Google Keep export files (json).
When selecting a json file, the app notices me with the following message: "Une erreur est survenue en essayant de lire ce fichier" which is french for "An error occured trying to read this file".
I tried several files, all from Google Keep data export.
Hello, I am coming over from Notally
, since there are a few design (mainly related to usability) choices that I do not really prefer over there, and Another Notes App
really nails those points (I also like how it is slightly lighter than Notally
).
Unfortunately, there are a few features missing in your app, so I shall post issues with feature requests regarding them in order to reach feature parity (and hopefully beyond that I'm the future).
Starting with, adding an option to view the created date of a note, preferably in a similar fashion to Notally, where if it is less than a day, it shows in the largest unit that has passed (hours, minutes, etc.)
For example:
Less than a day: 5 hours ago
Less than an hour: 5 minutes ago
Less than a minute: 5 seconds ago.
And seriously, keep it up.
I can see that I am the first one to post an issue, which may or may not mean that less people are aware of your work, but hopefully it will be much more well known.
For showing notes on the launcher.
Hello i'm trying to get in touch with you please respond
Hi maltaisn!
Since updating to v1.4.1, searching is currently not possible any longer – at least on my device. The crash happens the very moment the first letter is entered into the search field.
I hope the log excerpt caught by the "Scoop" app is of help to you.

Let's say you have thousands of notes divided into several categories (tags).
That would be impractical to have all of them displayed in a heap. In my situation I have some categories of notes that should be displayed inside main screen and another categories that should be excluded. Notes from excluded categories (hidden) can be only visible inside it's category.
Example: you have a category named Spanish. This category has option visible = false
.
You have some uncategorized notes on your main screen. Once you choose this category for any notes they become hidden from main screen and become available only in the category screen.
Do you like the idea?
It would be great if one could set how many lines can be seen in a note preview, with separate settings for list and grid views.
Thank you.
As a user who is concerned about privacy I hope the exporting data could be encrypted.
I also have a question, is the data stored in the device are encrypted? I mean if my big-brother apps can read the unencrypted content?
Another notes is one of the best note app in Android and thank you for the consideration. 😏
It would be awesome if Another Notes App
supported tagging notes, to view them in a more categorized way.
The input field in the dialog for "Create new label" and "Edit label name" is truncated when the application is used in landscape mode.
It would make things easier if we could pin specific notes, leaving them always at the top.
This would be very useful in multiple situations, especially with to do notes that are meant to be for a specific time, such as a shopping list, or a note of importance that needs to be referenced very often.
Edit: I see that you have already added this in the "Dev" branch.
Should this issue be closed, or be left open until the next release?
Result : You will notice that the application does not open the same note for some or all of the reminders.
From support email:
The sort is currently set to "by date modified" and cannot be configured otherwise. Please, add a sorting customization button next to the view customization button. Basic sorting options (descending by default):
- Date created
- Date modified
You can add even more, for example, duplicate these options, but with the condition "ascending" and "descending".
Please create a better color UI

When I create a new note and do not write anything inside it, then pressing back button, I see a disappearing card and a message "Blank note discarded". I don't know why it can be useful. Why not to just not creating a card for a blank note and not showing the message at all?
So, I have a blank note, I'm pressing back button, i see nothing new in the main screen (no blank card, no message about blank note). It's much less intrusive behavior.
Is this an issue specific to my device or are others are also facing it?
Great app. However, I recently noticed that the status bar is cut off by the navigation bar in landscape mode on your app.
Converting a normal text note into a list causes the application to crash when blank lines are inserted at the beginning or end of the note.
The app is supposed to remove blank lines wherever they are when converting
Amazing app, thank you so much for this great app. Can you add encryption (password protection option) to the exported json file?
Please it would be nice to have an option for changing the font size in your beautiful notes app.
I'm sure all people with bad eyes would be thankful.
Hello. Found your app today in F-Droid. What can i say: it is awesome and can be the first real alternative to D Notes which I use the most for years. So i have a thousands of notes probably and based on my experience I want to share some ideas (some of them were shared with D Notes author before).
Anyway, the first thing I'm missing in your app is colorful notes and labels. Labels can have a default color that will be used by default in every note created under same tag. But user should be able to change that color, of course.
By colorful notes I mean an ability to choose appearance color of the UI where notes are visible in editor (maybe title of the note font color and status bar color) and background of a card for the note in categories/main screen.
So, for example, if a note have dark color the font in the card should be white and for light color the font should be black. This way you'll have content visible regardless of the note color.
P.S. Also I would say that a tag and a reminder in a card should have less round corners like a card itself. Now it feels strange and attach too much attention to itself when corners of the tag (and a reminder label) and the card do not match.
Not required, however since I have seen quite a few apps hosting such a banner on their README pages, I thought that you might also be interested in adding one.
Might you be interested in adding Another Notes App
to F-Droid?
This might assist in getting your app a bit more limelight (though IzzyOnDroid's repo is already helping on that front).
Sometimes the following glitch appears, unfortunately I couldn't get clear steps to reproduce this glitch.
Save a bunch of notes
Settings>Export data
amend/add to an existing note
Settings>Import data
That last action is supposed to merge, but it really just restores to prior version; which is not ideal.
Import notes should at the very least create a backup copy of any note if it already exists rather than an overwrite. Ideally an option should be thrown to user to choose etc.
From support email:
For the Search feature, I noticed that the app supports highlighting matching words. But the problem is, this highlight is visible only if the searched word falls into a preview area of a note. So this function is almost useless; it works, but in most cases we aren't able to use it (because the word can be positioned lower than the preview shows, and when you open the note, there is no highlights at all).
I see that you used to have synchronization as a feature.
How about adding support for NextCloud and OwnCloud in the future?
That way, the user could add their own personal servers ("clouds").
When creating a note and adding a link to a website, it would be useful if the app recognized it and made it clickable
When I try to export the application force close (crash) instantly. many times I tried again and it keeps crashing
The version of the application I'm using is v1.2.0 from f-droid
I see no directory permissions. whether it's related to the cause of the application crash during data export. but all solutions depend on you
thanks
Very annoying bug and very easy to reproduce: make any changes to an existing note or add text to a new note and then add a reminder. Text gets deleted or reverted to the last saved state.
How about calling the app yanta?(yet another note taking app), i feel that its more inspiring and catchy than the current name,
Please support RTL languages layouts.
Add a new feature to drag notes around to sort them manually.
This custom order would be lost when sort settings are changed, presumably.
I was recently writing a long thought out article in the app. Was doing some editing and pressed the delete button by mistake and deleted it all, only to find that there's no Undo Button.
Please add the "Undo & Redo" Buttons. It's very basic and will save a lot of user frustration in editing long notes.
