This repository has been archived. This means that there will be no new development nor security updates and pull requests will not be accepted. The builder system was taken down.

The development continues in two separate repositories:

Original, frozen .deb packages for Machinekit will be available in deb.machinekit.io repository for the foreseeable future.

What is Machinekit?

Machinekit is a platform for machine control applications.

Machinekit is portable across a wide range of hardware platforms and real-time environments, and delivers excellent performance at low cost. It is based on the HAL component architecture, an intuitive and easy to use circuit model that includes over 150 building blocks for digital logic, motion, control loops, signal processing, and hardware drivers. Machinekit supports local and networked UI options, including ubiquitous platforms like phones or tablets.

Getting Machinekit

The easiest way to get up-and-running is to install Debian Stretch and get the binary packages.

Please go to www.machinekit.io for this and all other information, including documentation.

History

The open-source Machinekit project forked from the open-source LinuxCNC project (http://www.linuxcnc.org) in 2014. At the present time, identifiers such as 'linuxcnc' and 'emc' (the antecedent of linuxcnc) still occur in various places. These occurrences are diminishing with time as the Machinekit codebase and Machinekit documentation evolve.

machineface's Issues

Keyboard bindings active in MDI tab

Having the keyboard shortcut bindings active while in the MDI tab result in annoying and un-intended movement.
Specifically, the arrow keys should scroll through the command history while in MDI instead of causing movement.

After reconnection, Extrusion/Temp options are gone

Version: machinekit-client_v0.9-13_windows_x86.zip
Repro Step:

  1. Start machinekit, run Machineface, connects
  2. Stop machinekit (Ctrl-C), Machineface will detect disconnection, and kept retrying
  3. Start machinekit
  4. Machineface reconnects.
Problem - after reconnect, the extrusion axis and temperature controls are gone.

Note 1: velocity extrusion configuration. Using rcomp defined as fdm-e0, fdm-hbp, fdm-ve-jog, fdm-ve-params, fdm-e0-pid.
Note 2: Starting a new machineface will have everything fine.

Machineface lacking widgets (temperatures)

I'm unable to see any temperature controls on the right hand side of machinekit, via console I can see the error of

qml: request 256 from 'fdm-e0-{13d32a13-65d2-4ad5-a3cc-3bc987d33887}': Component not created since no_create flag set

Among many other errors of the same nature, each one corresponding to an extruder, heated bed, light or fan (from what I can tell).

Any help would be appreciated.

I know that my temperatures get a valid reading, and work in axis.

Please let me know if you need more info.

Display current gcode line somewhere.

When used for 3D printing, knowing the gcode line currently executing can be useful.
If a 3D print fails, and you happen to be around to catch it, you stop the print.
Then if you knew the line it failed on or close to it, the print could be resumed by creating a new gcode file and deleting all lines before that.

Perhaps clicking on (for tablet) or click/hover (for mouse) of the percent complete bar could display the current line.
