EPP Client

Build Status

Client for communicating with EPP services

Installation

Add this line to your application's Gemfile:

gem 'epp-client'

And then execute:

$ bundle

Or install it yourself as:

$ gem install epp-client

Version 2.0.0

The version has been bumped to 2.0.0 due to the introduction of a backwards incompatible change.

  • EPP::Domain::InfoResponse#status now returns an array of statuses as part of #7.

Usage

client = EPP::Client.new('username', 'password', 'epp.server.com')
client.hello
puts client.last_request.to_s(:indent => 2)
puts client.last_response.to_s(:indent => 2)

The old method_missing behaviour has been removed and replaced with defined methods for handling each of the distinct EPP commands.

  • check
  • create
  • delete
  • info
  • renew
  • transfer
  • update
  • poll
  • ack

each of these methods, with the exception of poll and ack, accept two arguments. Those arguments are a payload and an optional extension. The majority of the common domain, contact and host payloads have been defined already.

Domain Check Example

resp  = client.check EPP::Domain::Check.new('example.com', 'example.net', 'example.org')
check = EPP::Domain::CheckResponse.new(resp)
check.available?('example.com') #=> true
check.available?('example.net') #=> false
check.available?('example.org') #=> false

Domain Information Example

resp = client.info EPP::Domain::Info.new('example.com')
info = EPP::Domain::InfoResponse.new(resp)
info.name #=> "example.com"
info.nameservers #=> [{"name"=>"ns1.example.net"},{"name"=>"ns2.example.net"}]

Payload an Extension API

The objects which are passed to the client methods need to adhere to the following API in order to be successfully marshalled by the client into the required XML document.

  • name to specify the EPP command name. Required.
  • to_xml returns an XML::Document. Required.
  • set_namespaces to receive XML::Namespace objects from the parent. Optional.

Cannot get extensions to work

I have no idea what I'm doing wrong or how to resolve it. Spent hours on getting this far already, some example or docs would be nice at this point ๐Ÿ˜ซ I think I'm getting close though, here's what I have so far:

This gives the following error:

Nodes belong to different documents.  You must first import the node by calling XML::Document.import.

Contact create/update and info doesn't support multiple "street" elements

According to the schemas the "street" element can appear up to a maximum of 3 times. So we need to either accept an array of streets or else split street by comma into multiple elements. In either case we would either only accept the first three elements or else we would raise an exception.

Extract requests into their own objects

Extract EPP requests such as Hello, Login and Logout into their own request classes. The request classes should be capable of generating the full XML form of the request so that we can properly test them.

DEFAULT_SERVICES

Hi,
I tried to add services like mentioned in the source of client.rb

services = EPP::Client::DEFAULT_SERVICES + %w(urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:secDNS-1.1)
EPP::Client.new('username','password','epp.example.com', :services => services)

but it does not seem to work. I get

uninitialized constant EPP::Client::DEFAULT_SERVICES

I also tried to do this:

services = %w(
     http://www.dns.be/xml/epp/dnsbe-1.0
     urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:domain-1.0
     urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:contact-1.0
     urn:ietf:params:xml:ns:host-1.0)
EPP::Client.new('username','password','epp.example.com', :services => services)

But no luck...

Can you please point me in the right direction?

Doc examples not working

Hello

Im trying to use the examples in the doc and they are not working for me, could you check and let me know if i'm doing something wrong or the docs are outdated/wrong?

If trying either domain:check string payload or domain:check XML::Node payload examples i get the following error.

LibXML error when calling #to_xml more than once on a command with extension loaded

Full text of error:

LibXML::XML::Error:  Nodes belong to different documents.  You must first import the node by calling XML::Document.import.

This may be as simple as me not setting namespaces (I've found a few methods called 'set_namespaces') but I'm unable to see exactly how to set these manually.

Below are steps to reproduce.
