Quest mod for Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition (BG:EE), Baldur's Gate Trilogy (BGT) and the Enhanced Edition Trilogy (EET):

(This version may work with BG1 with TotSC and Tutu but it is untested, feedback are welcome...)

Dark Horizons is a WeiDU-based mod for Baldur's Gate with Tales of the Sword Coast. This mod will have one major quest. An organization has been contracted to seek you out and eliminate you by whatever means necessary. Find out who they are before they take you out of play. There will be multiple minor quests as well a few "Fed Ex" quests. There are many new custom items added to this mod as well as new areas to explore. Remember Dark Horizons requires the Tales of the Sword Coast expansion pack (Originally included in Enhanced Edition).

Install:


Extract archive contents into your game directory

Double click setup-DarkHorizons.exe and follow the instructions.

Though this mod is made using the WeiDU standard, and should be compatible with all other WeiDU-based mods, there is always the possibility for conflicts. We suggest you install this mod AFTER the official patches. If you encounter any problems installing the mod, please our forums.

Compatibility:


Dark Horizons should be compatible with most Weidu mods, there is always a chance that incompatibilities will arise. This version works with Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, Baldur's Gate Trilogy (BGT) and the Enhanced Edition Trilogy.

FAQS:


Q: What do I need to use this MOD? A: Dark Horizons requires Baldur's Gate with Tales of the Sword Coast and the latest Bioware/Interplay patches. If you have the 3 CD "Original Saga" you do not need the latest patch since that comes with the latest patch already. We also strongly encourage the installation of the Baldurdash Fixpack. This mod will also work with the Tutu and BGT variations of the game.

Q: Is this mod quest or NPC mod? A: Originally it was both but at the first release its just a quest & encounters mod. The three new NPCs will be brought in at a later version of this mod.

Q: So there are a lot of new encounters and quests? A: There are many encounters in Dark Horizons. They range from cut throat assassins to crazy druids. But not all encounters are hostile, some of them may be beneficial to you if you help them out. There are minor quests and the main quest that will lead you to those who are responsible for sending these assassins after you.

Q: Rumor has it this mod now incorporates the BG1 Adventures and Forge mods. True? A: True. The original authors were kind enough to add this into Dark Horizons.

CHANGES

CHANGES

  • Introduced two new NPCs, Thorin and Nikita.
  • Nikita will leave Section after the leaders decide to kill you. She will join your party later if you want her.
  • You can now encounter Davenport after Chapter 3 instead of after Chapter 4.
  • Removed the Usability text from the items since BG:EE will automatically add the text in.
  • Section and Oversight creature files have their own general hostile scripts added to them.

BUGFIXES

  • Removed the dialog for the druid, Wendell. It must be broken since it crashed my game. Will have to recode it later.
  • Changed area CM0750 exit to AR0700. It was using as BGT area for an exit.
  • Fixed Zargos Flintblade not showing up in AR5400.

  • CMHELM03.ITM error: Effect #13 (opcode 35) requires Saving Throws (Cool!) - Needed a Save vs. Wands
  • CMSWQ14.ITM error: Effect #3 (opcode 40) requires Saving Throws (1)! - There's already a Slow Effect applied on-hit so the equipped effect should be removed Smiley Also the on-hit Slow effect didn't allow a Save vs. Spells as mentioned in description
  • CMSWQ17.ITM error: Effect #7 (opcode 25) requires Saving Throws (4)! - The Poison effect should probably moved into the Melee header as an on-hit effect
  • CMSTAF01.ITM - Petrification has a 22% chance instead of the mentioned 25%

  • Various, well most of the weapons did not have an Enchantment to hit. Now they do.
  • MA1SW01 Scimitar +3, "Andarous' Fury" proficiency was as a long sword when it should be a scimitar.
  • CMXBOW01 Light Crossbow +3 'Firetooth' didn't have any proficiency set. Now its a crossbow like it should be.
  • CMSWQ08 Doufas' Sabre had an unknown weapon proficiency, set at proficiency short sword.
  • MASWOR01 Cutlass +2 "Quintus D� Sol" proficiency was set at two-handed weapon style. Changed to PROFICIENCYSCIMITARWAKISASHININJATO.
  • MASWOR02 Handed Sword +2 "Rage" proficiency was set at two-handed weapon style. Changed to PROFICIENCYTWOHANDEDSWORD.
  • Halabasher Dunshar didn't spawn due to the wrong creature name in the area script.
  • Dark Horizon's dragon was using the same Global setting that DSotSC dragon did.
  • Area CM3374 had an item in container1 that did not exist.
  • Nemmerle's Chill cold resistance heading was in the wrong part of the item.

  • Helmet of the Dead only cost 1GP. Not any more.

  • Nik and Mikes swords were wrong. They were incorrectly - assigned.
  • Replace the Bullet of Detonation BAM file. The image was - corrupted.

  • War Hammer +3 "Asgrim's Fate" did not have the droppable attribute - checked.
  • The Frozen North & Icestorm bows froze you as well as your - target.
  • Durlag Encounter didn't spawn correctly. Changed the - conditions.
  • Redid area CM3373 due to the file being - corrupted.
  • Ring of Conduction gave Acid protection and not Electrical like it was - suppose to. Plus the conditions were in the wrong part of the - item.
  • Doufas' Sabre didn't have a saving throw against holding like it - stated. Lowered the timing of the hold from 60 seconds to - 30.
  • The food items didn't have any - text.
  • Thorengrim Hammerfist didn't give you the wyvern helm because of a - spelling mistake in his - dialog.
  • Thorengrim Hammerfist spelling error in his dialog when it came to the - Improved Balduran Helm. He wants a Lock of hair from Kirinhale not a - Bloodstone Gem. MISC20 vs MISC2O.
  • Fixed broken scripts for the ghost under Ulcaster.
  • Removed the Hellbearer Sword, it was badly corrupted.
  • Dagger +2: 'The Shocker' had the incorrect resistance set.

  • Throwing Dagger +3 was labeled as axe for Item Type.

  • Toned down the assassins in AR2800. They were too powerful for a 1st-2nd level party.
  • Moved the Najara encounter so it appears in Chapter 3.
  • Toned down the "dragon" encounter. It was way too overkill.
  • Altered Miranda and her druids creature files.
  • Moved the dragon encounter away from spawn points.
  • Moved Davenport's encounter so its not near a spawn point.
  • Toned down the Section encounter.
  • Added script file for area CM0751.
  • Added script file for area CM0752.
  • Toned down Oversight encounter.

BUGFIXES

  • Fixed Holy Flail of the Sun so its only usable only by clerics and paladins.
  • Fixed an error in Selene's dialog.
  • Fixed dragon items so they are not droppable.
  • Fixed a dialog error in Tristan and Isolde's dialogs.
  • Fixed Kieran. He had a bow and a shield which of course caused the game to crash.
  • Miranda and her druids turned hostile but didn't attack. They just stood there looking stupid.
  • Staff of Nature wasn't flagged as a two-handed weapon.
  • Wendell's druid encounter didn't spawn properly.
  • Forgot the animation images and sounds for area CM3376. Game go crashy.
  • Fixed endless spawns of a creature in AR3302.
  • Fixed the Global in AR0700 to spawn Nik and Mike.
  • Fixed dialog start with Jones.
  • Fixed a couple of the Section guards, who happened to be frozen.
  • Fixed dialog error with Nik. She didn't give you the scroll to get into Oversight. It had the wrong name.
  • Fixed the Belt of Sune which lowered your Charisma to 1 when its suppose to increase it by one point.
