[BUG n°1080252] 2nd Pantograph Sound Problem

Imported from https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1080252

Property Value

Date reported Sun, 18 Nov 2012 06:04:24 GMT

In the last Experiment Release r1335,

r1332 - Bug 1075754 - Related fix for pantographs being associated with the wrong direction and not making use of the correct EventIDs for reverse pantographs.

was fixed. Good work, but I find a problem that when I pressed Shift+P to only up or down the 2nd Pantograph, the sound of the pantograph seem not to play. And I think when either of this two pantographs up, the sound of the engine should not stop play until both two pantographs down.

Posted for user pnrailway:

Pleased that you're making good use of OR and thanks for your feedback.
[quote name='pnrailway' timestamp='1353035506' post='104037']
2. Another appearance item. The thin band that appears when a screen shot is taken, is there any way that could be set much lower on the screen since it is necessary to crop it out of any screened screen shots and it still could be seen at as a half inch above the bottom of the screen.

  1. On a related note, is there any way to remove the band(s) that appear on the screen each time an activity is restarted from a save as it use to be? Each time you restart an activity an additional bar appears that will not go away and again must be cropped out of the picture if a screenshot is taken.
    [/quote]
    I've seen these symptoms only occasionally and I guess from your message that these symptoms happen most of the time on your system. They shouldn't.

The thin band is the background to a message in white text. Sounds as though you're not seeing the text at all.

I'm also guessing that it's a timing issue with different threads taking the screenshot and putting up a message about it. We might need to synchronise these so that the message always happens after the screenshot is taken.

It would also help to know more about your system - OS, RAM, video card. Can you post more details, please?

[BUG n°1085675] Train windows opacity does not work correctly

Train windows opacity seems not to work correctly. Take as an example the swiss ETR610 high speed tilting train, that can be downloaded from here: http://www.trainsimhobby.net/infusions/pro_download_panel/file.php?did=985&file_id=1011
Referring to external view every carriage of the train has two shapes: the first element of the train has as shape SBB_CFF_FFS_Etr610-106.s plus a second shape, that appears in the .eng file as FreightAnim, and has as name SBB_CFF_FFS_InterniP1.s .
The two shapes are "superimposed" The window openings are transparent in the first shape and have an alpha-channel in the second one. In the annexed .zip you see in file ETR610_Shapeviewer.jpg how the first element of the train shows up in Shape viewer, after having loaded the two shapes. In MSTS the result is more or less the same. In ORTS however the windows appear completely opaque, as can be seen in file ETR610_ORTS.jpg (also contained in the annexed .zip file).
The opacity is controlled by file vetro.ace . I have tried to reduce opacity. Up to a certain degree of reduction nothing changes in ORTS (in Shape Viewer the transparency of course increases). If the opacity is reduced below a certain threshold the windows begin appearing completely transparent.
So only two states seem to appear in ORTS: either completely opaque or completely transparent.
Same happens in other trainsets.

[BUG n°1080735] Error in conversion from MSTS path to Node list

Imported from https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1080735

Property Value
Reported by r.roeterdink (r-roeterdink)
Date reported Mon, 19 Nov 2012 15:08:06 GMT

Occasionaly, the conversion from MSTS path to Node list (path as used internally). The error links an incorrect node into the path.
The error mostly occurs at the start or the end of a (sub)path, i.e. start of path or just before or after reversal point or waiting point.

Example :
Route : Surfliner2
Path : FF_LAX_SD (file is attached)
Activity : n.a. (affects any train, either player or AI, in any activity using said path)
Logfile : n.a. (no error reported)

Path is routed through Stuart Mesa yard, with waiting point just before yard exit.

Path is correct upto node 990.
Next sequence than is :

node 990
junction node 991
node 948
junction node 947

Path is correct again from this point onwards.

Error here is node 948 : this is not connected to 991. The correct node here should be 992, which is the node between junctions 991 and 947. Node 948 is connected to 947 but is the 'wrong' exit from this junction.

The problem does not lead to an error report or crash or anything.
Sometimes it causes the train to 'jump' tracks, often it remains unnoticed.
In the preliminary new signalling, it leads to a report that the train is off its allocated route.

[BUG n°1083133] Bogies and wheels for IC3

So, I think the bogies and the wheels configuration for all IC3 consists are either flipped or bugged in Open Rails.
As seen in the picture below:

http://i1125.photobucket.com/albums/l590/Granders/runactivity2012-11-1517-23-53-45.png

This happens on all variants of the IC3 and IR4 consists, however it does not occur on the IC2.

[BUG n°1084048] View Angle Changes Suddenly

Imported from https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1084048

Property Value
Reported by Railcat (railcat)
Date reported Wed, 28 Nov 2012 12:17:21 GMT

This phenomenon generally occurs when I play the game in window mode. During the game, I switch the view angle to View 2, View 3, View 4 or View 8, after I scroll the mouse wheel to zoom in or out the view. If I keep the OR game window active, no bad things will happen, but if I click the desktop to let the game window become deactive, the phenomenon occurs that the view angle will change suddenly. After I active the game window, the view angle will change suddenly again. This problem never happened in versions before the function of mouse wheel has been added in, so I think there must be something wrong with the code of this newly added in function. Thank you for the OR team providing us such a good game. Yeah!

[BUG n°1084934] AI trains don't reverse on reverse points

Imported from https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1084934

Property Value
Reported by Carlo Santucci (carlosanit1)
Date reported Fri, 30 Nov 2012 07:11:02 GMT
Tags ai, reverse

In the latest OR releases, including release 1342, AI trains don't reverse on reverse points. In general when they reach the reverse point they stop, and make small jerks, but do not reverse.
I attach as demo a small USA2 activity using standard rolling stock. 5 seconds after activity start the AI loco appears near the player train, runs forwards, reaches the reverse point, and... stays there with some small trembling forwards and backwards.
This bug has already been reported in the trainsim forum and is inserted here for your convenience.

[BUG n°1085713] in^3 not accepted

Imported from https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1085713

Property Value
Reported by David Forrest (dforrest)
Date reported Sun, 02 Dec 2012 20:23:16 GMT

In running activities on several British routes I repeatedly get the following error on many UK locomotives.

Warning: Found a suffix '*(in^3)' which could not be parsed as a Volume unit in D:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\trains\trainset\Holbeck Scots#46117L.eng:line 793

My assumption that "in^3" is entered for cubic inches and that OR, and I assume MSTS, do not read this. Am I correct? If so, would it be best that the .eng file be changed to something OR and MSTS will accept or can OR be changed to accept what the author is obviously intending?

[BUG n°1074523] Lists of paths and consists do not often display in OR window

Imported from https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1074523

Property Value
Reported by Walter Johnson Conklin IV (walterjconklin)
Date reported Sat, 03 Nov 2012 00:04:09 GMT

Dear colleagues,

I had previously reported about the recurrent issue that the lists of paths and consists, which should normally appear in the OR window, do not often display. The link to that report is at

http://www.elvastower.com/forums/index.php?/topic/16141-slow-loading-of-consists-and-paths-in-the-panes-of-the-or-window/page__p__76064__hl__pane__fromsearch__1#entry76064.

It has now gotten to the point that OR does not even display most of the time the consists for the unreleased Tristate route, the one route I have installed. Sometimes I get lucky in that OR will display and load the consists, but that occurs infrequently. Thus, I cannot basically use OR most of the time on my parent' labtop. I have to point out that the issue of the lists of paths and consists randomly disspearing at times seems to mostly occur with my parents' labtop, which is not intended for gaming.

Please find below the specs for the labtop.

System Manufacturer: Hewlett-Packard
System Model: HP G60 Notebook PC
BIOS: Default System BIOS
Processor: Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU T4300 @ 2.10GHz (2 CPUs), ~2.1GHz
Memory: 3072MB RAM
Available OS Memory: 3004MB RAM
Page File: 2527MB used, 3476MB available
Windows Dir: C:\Windows
DirectX Version: DirectX 11
DX Setup Parameters: Not found
User DPI Setting: Using System DPI
System DPI Setting: 96 DPI (100 percent)
DWM DPI Scaling: Disabled
DxDiag Version: 6.01.7601.17514 32bit Unicode

OR on my gaming computer, which I do not have the specs in front of me, rarely takes a while to load the consists. On both computers, MSTS does not have a problem displaying the consists. I do not believe that the problem of not being able to display the consists and paths is directly related to the number of consists or paths I have. For example, substituting an experimental consist folder with only one or two consists or using another paths folder with one or two paths, I notice that OR still struggles to load the consists and paths.

It is my hope that by submitting this updated report we can be able to resolve the aforementioned issue which help to make OR more stable to use for certain users such as myself.

Thank you in advance for your time and help.

Sincerely,
Walter

[BUG n°1080613] Reversing Point Not recognised

Date reported Mon, 19 Nov 2012 09:45:37 GMT

I am running an activity for a route that has a reversing point in it (see act_path.gif in zip file). In v0.7 it is recognised and visible in the HUD (see v0.7_rev), whereas in v0.8+ (including 1330- see v0.8(1330)) it is not being seen by OR, and consequently the pathing and changing of points is not working.

This activity comes from the following route:

http://www.wolgan-valley.coalstonewcastle.com.au/route/downloads/

and the activity in question is:

http://www.wolgan-valley.coalstonewcastle.com.au/activities/downloads/

I have come across a few other activities with the same problem and there appears to be reports from at least one other person of reversing points not working for them now and again.

Any thoughts what may be causing the problems?

Thanks

[BUG n°1084958] Sound Source isn't heard

Property Value
Reported by Carlo Santucci (carlosanit1)
Date reported Fri, 30 Nov 2012 09:39:29 GMT

I have created a simple demo activity on the standard USA2 route. If you start this activity under MSTS without moving the train and go to an external cam (2 for example) you hear car traffic sound, generated by a sound source that runs file traf_m_m.sms (to be found within train simulator/sound together with the related .wav sounds ).
If you start this activity under ORTS you don't hear car traffic sound. To solve this a copy of file traf_m_m.sms together with its .waw files has to be created within within the route's sound folder. So ORTS does not consider sound source .sms and .wav files if they are in the train simulator sound folder.
Annexed: packaged activity and log file.

Use of path redirection in .con files works in some cases and not others.

Upwards redirection works as expected:
..\SP_Boxcars\40ftXM will correctly redirect the file open out of \trainset\40ftXM and into \SP_Boxcars\40ftXM where it will search for the .wag file.

OTOH, downwards redirection does not work:
changing SD-40-2 to \UP_Locomotives\SD-40-2 results in an error that reads, in part:

blah, blah... Could not find part of the path... blah... trainset\UP_LocomotivesSD-40-2....

The near point clipping/vanishing distance is a bit too large for camera 1 on some locomotives, resulting in the locomotive body being clipped away and revealing the far side scenery. One example is the MILW_H10-44_#760-783 set (Elvas Tower, numerous models in various road names).

This may be an old issue but the locomotive, for me, is new. At present using version "1326-DEBUG BUILD".

Suppose in a signal no REPEATER signal head is present. In this case MSTS assigns to this_sig_lr (SIGFN_REPEATER) the value of -1, and in the script the absence of the repeater signal can be tested using a comparison with -1 as follows

Hello,

I would like to report some faults in display when using current beta OR 1309.
I am trying commercial MSTS scenery "TSP: Aachen-Köln V1.0" with Route "TSP-AK ICE Aachen-Köln (P4)".

In the loco there are some bars that in the original MSTS go from bottom to top, but in OR run from top to bottom - so in opposite direction and with wrong colors and length (it appears it shows 100%-X% where X% was expected)

Furthermore some clock-style displays have the indicator needle at incorrect positions and digital number displays have a too large font.

Please see the attached images (000143.png - the smallest one - shows original correct MSTS display, the other two show OR display).

Also I am getting following reports
"Skipped unknown ControlStyle METRES/SEC/SEC"
"Cannot parse the constant number 0.3.5"
etc.

When running the test, one gets the following report:

Hello guys!

I'm administrator of Ukrainian website zdsim.com where we are always testing new versions of OR. Some bugs on the X.1356 below (all of them are at multiplayer mode).

  1. When player has started his locomotive with some cars (freignt or passenger - doesn't matter) and then uncoupled them anywhere, becomes a very bad bug when other players of multiplayer see such picture: loco and cars changed their places. But player, who uncoupled cars can see everything correctly.
    Bug has been seen at all russian and ukrainian routes, and even at standard MSTS NEC.
    Almost the same problem was when server player started activity at multiplayer mode (to make posibility couple traffic-stopped trains) and ane player tries co couple with any comsist (traffic or static) - they changes between their places.
    See attachment.

  2. From version X.1342 (or even earlier) dispatcher cannot switch signal to "STOP", but APPROACH and PROCEED are working correctly.

  3. At dispatcher window button "See in game" needs to be replaced somewhere else because sometimes in hurry it is being pushed and multiplayer server is going to fall down.

We have a very big report in russian, but it is still being translated.

Sorry for no log files - next bug reports it will be.

Multiple failures on CTRL-E :

  1. After CTRL-E, reverser is locked
  2. Pressing CTRL-E multiple times does not bring you back to front cab
  3. Pressing CTRL-E on train with multiple EMU does not take you to end of train, only to end of unit
  4. After pressing CTRL-E, camera's 2 and 3 are linked to same end of train - front end, allthough actual cab selected is at other end of MU (2 looking backward, 3 looking forward)

[BUG n°1084132] OR does not honor font justification

OR does not honor font justification. This is a design issue and will need a font justification routine.

Also related the reason that 3rd party routes will not have elongated fonts in MSTS but OR does with out adjusting .cvf coordinates. Is that MSTS may be centering on a rectangle both vertically and horizontally, and then using a fixed 4:3 ration for scaling . Where OR use's the height value/16 for font ratio.

As this would be a major change for font rendering will be mulling this around for a while. In the intrim as a go around .cvf files can be edited in the cab editor to align text box's width height values.

[BUG n°1084270] general animations do not scale in cabview

Imported from https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1084270

Property Value
Reported by Lindsay Spellman (zlinw)
Date reported Wed, 28 Nov 2012 22:40:48 GMT

In the cabview the DIAL needle points can scaled under control of the Position statement but the other animations cannot. For instance.......... example is from the Bluebird cabview.

Dial (
type ( SPEEDOMETER )
Position ( 534 57 39 57 )

Now if you change the last 57 and run OR one will find one can changed the size of the needle but with
(or in fact any of the other control animations)

TriState (
Type (DIRECTION_TRI_STATE )
Position ( 439 389 51 51 )

This does not work, all that happens is the size of the area animated appears to change but the animated images does nor change in size.

Now I have a strong feeling that this is an "accidental" feature that has allowed the use of high resolution cabviews such a I have shown is possible on Elvas Tower. It would be nice though particularly for OR v1.0 if this could work a one could do some really good cabviews.

All cabviews should show this behaviour, if required somewhere on Elvas tower is one of my high res cabviews that can be used for testing.

I installed my MSTS routes in two separate places in my computer and now I have setup both folder paths in my OR. See the attachment I have uploaded. The name of the "Default" defined the path of "E:\My Games\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator", and the other "Bin" is "E:\My Games\OpenRails\Bin". I can start all of the games stored in both path without any problems. But when I played the routes which stored in Bin folder path , I pressed F2 key to save the game and reloaded it, OR seemed not know that this route was stored in Bin folder, and showed me that it didn't find the game path. This can be found in the log.

The first time I started the game.

[BUG n°1088568] Speedometer needle does not rotate correctly

In the Bernina ABe 4/4 II EMU, downloadable from here http://rhbformsts.spoorpunt.nl/ABe44II.php?m=1 , the speedometer needle is not placed in the correct position and does not rotate correctly in ORTS.
In the attached .zip file you can find 3 pictures:
Needle0_ORTS.jpg shows the needle in ORTS at speed 0;
Needle38_ORTS.jpg shows the needle in ORTS at speed 38 kph;
Nedle0_MSTS.jpg shows the needle in MSTS at speed 0, in correct position.
The needle .ace file is 131x131. In the .cvf file it is resized to 81x81, with pivot=40 (approximate center of reduced .ace file). This is OK for MSTS, that correctly rotates the needle around its centre, but not for ORTS (if instead I define in the .cvf file a dimension of 131x131 and set pivot=65 ORTS works correctly, but the needle is of course too big).

[BUG n°1090500] After a signal an incorrect speed limit is set

In the route Lombardia (Milano-Chiasso), downloadable from here http://www.amicitreni.net/train-simulator/scenari/scenario.asp?file_id=196 (after installation following patch must be added http://www.amicitreni.net/train-simulator/scenari/scenario.asp?file_id=197) there are signals that have more than a signal head of type "Normal".
Example: signal seg_3velatonda.s can have both signal head "PROT" and signal head "MANOVRA" enabled.
In the sigcfg file signal head "PROT" has following signal aspects defined
SignalAspects ( 8
SignalAspect ( STOP "Nothing" SpeedKPH ( 0 ) )
SignalAspect ( STOP_AND_PROCEED "Nothing" SpeedKPH ( 30 ) )
SignalAspect ( RESTRICTING "Nothing" SpeedKPH ( 120 ) )
SignalAspect ( APPROACH_1 "Nothing" SpeedKPH ( 30 ) )
SignalAspect ( APPROACH_2 "Nothing" SpeedKPH ( 60 ) )
SignalAspect ( APPROACH_3 "Nothing" SpeedKPH ( 30 ) )
SignalAspect ( CLEAR_1 "Nothing" SpeedKPH ( 100 ) )
SignalAspect ( CLEAR_2 "Nothing" ) )
Signal head "MANOVRA" has following signal aspects defined
SignalAspects ( 2
SignalAspect ( STOP "Nothing" SpeedKPH ( 0 ) )
SignalAspect ( STOP_AND_PROCEED "Nothing" SpeedKPH ( 30 ) )
)
In the sigscr file PROT has following script
SCRIPT PROT

extern float	enabled;
extern float	block_state ();
extern float	route_set ();
extern float	this_sig_lr ();
extern float	next_sig_lr ();
extern float	state;
extern float	draw_state;
extern float	def_draw_state ();
extern float	sig_feature ();

float			next_nor;
float			next_rep;
float			next_dis;
float			this_dis;
float			this_rep;
float			this_nor;
next_nor = next_sig_lr (SIGFN_NORMAL);
next_rep = next_sig_lr (SIGFN_REPEATER);
next_dis = next_sig_lr (SIGFN_DISTANCE);
this_dis = this_sig_lr (SIGFN_DISTANCE);
this_rep = this_sig_lr (SIGFN_REPEATER);
this_nor = this_sig_lr (SIGFN_NORMAL);

if ( !enabled || !route_set () || block_state () !=# 0 ||
     ( sig_feature (SIGFEAT_GRADIENT_PLATE) && next_nor ==# 0 ) )
state = 0;
else if ( ( this_nor !=# 2 && next_rep ==# 1 ) ||
          ( sig_feature (SIGFEAT_USER4) && ( next_nor ==# 0 || next_nor ==# 1 ) ) )
state = 1;
  else if ( ( this_rep !=# -1 && ( next_nor ==# 0 || next_nor ==# 1 ) ||
          ( ( this_nor !=# 2 && next_nor >=# 3 ) && next_rep ==# 3 ) ) )
state = 3;
  else if ( ( this_nor !=# 2 && next_nor >=# 3 ) && next_rep ==# 4 )
state = 4;
  else if ( ( ( this_dis !=# -1 && this_nor !=# 7 ) && next_nor !=# 2 ) && next_rep ==# 5 )
state = 5;
  else if ( ( this_nor !=# 2 && next_nor >=# 3 ) && next_rep ==# 6 )
state = 6;
else if ( ( ( this_dis !=# -1 && next_nor !=# 7 ) && next_nor !=# 2 ) ||
          ( next_nor ==# 2 && next_dis <=# 1 ) )
state = 2;
  else state = 7;

MANOVRA has following script:
SCRIPT MANOVRA

extern float	enabled;
extern float	block_state ();
extern float	route_set ();
extern float	next_sig_lr ();
extern float	state;
extern float	draw_state;
extern float	def_draw_state ();

float			next_nor;
next_nor = next_sig_lr (SIGFN_NORMAL);

if ( !enabled || !route_set () || block_state () !=# 0 ||
     ( sig_feature (SIGFEAT_GRADIENT_PLATE) && next_nor ==# 0 ) )
state = 0;
else state = 1;

When ORTS has to select state=7 (CLEAR_2) it does it correctly, and I see such state/SignalAspect with CTRL-ALT-F11, but it takes the speed limit from SignalAspect 1 of MANOVRA (30 kph) instead of taking it from SignalAspect 7 of PROT (no speed limit). Proof of this is that if I remove the 30 kph speed limit from SignalAspect1 of MANOVRA I correctly don't have speed limit after the signal. By the way MSTS manages correctly the case.
