In this repository, we propose a tool and ready-to-use dataset from the Allsides website, which rates the political bias of news sources.

We manually get the HTML page with fully scrolled-down ratings, for all different categories. These were collected on September 28th 2022. We then use a web scraper to gather additional information and store the data in a tabular format.

We provide an environment.yml file to use with conda. To run the script:

conda env create -f environment.yml
conda activate allsides-scraper
python allsides-scraper.py

The Allsides data is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License. These ratings may be used for research or noncommercial purposes with attribution. The use of the present repository is therefore subject to the respect of this license's terms.
