Hello! I will try to answer them as best I can.

  1. No, it will never be able to support AGA modes. Even if the CPLD was switched to one that would take the extra video data lines, the Pi does not have enough IO pins to take it. This means it would need to be multiplexed and the Pi's GPIO is not fast enough to do multiplexing of video data. That being said, the PiStorm project has a sub-project in development that can a) do AGA RGBtoHDMI itself, without a Pi or b) inject the AGA data to a Pi via the camera port, which is intended to be used to mix with the RTG for PiStorm.
  2. Whilst I haven't tried it, the latest beta supports ECS modes: https://github.com/IanSB/RGBtoHDMI/releases
  3. No, it won't damage it, if it is not supported then it just won't be able to lock on to the picture properly.
