Tested the game on real hardware (PAL MD1 VA4 switched to 60Hz) and the music also crashes when stage 1 starts (no buzzing though, just silence) if you leave the intro running after power-on so this seems to be more a bug in the game itself than an emulation issue.
Note that, on real hardware, it does not occur if you skip the intro at first boot (and got music playing normally once) then reset the game (through reset button) and leave the intro running this time so it might be related to some data being not correctly initialized or resetted during intro.

Was just really weird to see everyone else get working music - YT playthroughs, older Gens 2.12 and Gens+, Foobar2000.
I'll take real hardware results and ask someone to hackfix it. :)
