dictionaries's Issues

Normalize all to UTF-8

I'm not sure if this has been talked about before but it would be great if these were all UTF-8. This is the right place to do it too. All of these projects are parsing these files (Debian in Perl), and recoding them with iconv or a library.

Why not just move them all over to UTF-8. Some of them are already UTF-8. I'd be happy to kick off that work too and send a PR if it's politically acceptable.

en_GB: "notarisation" word is missing?

I connected en_GB.dic and en_GB.aff to one of Hunspell port for my programming language. It says "notarisation" is misspelled. MS Word says not.

That word has a different form for US (notariZation) and UK (notariSation).

Is there is some issue with I use Hunspell port (for example, it does not correctly use rules from .aff) or the above dictionary problem?

Extension installed but language not found in the list

Hi,

I am trying to create an extension for the freshly-created spell-checker of Kurmanji Kurdish. Even though the structure of the project is identical to that of Sorani Kurdish, the name of the language is not among the list of the languages when I install the extension.

To further clarify, I use "kmr-Latn" as the language code. Do you think the fact that there is already a kmr_Latn code available would create a conflict with the one that I try to install?

Whan can explain an extension being added successfully but not shown in the list of languages.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Missing 'reputational' from en

reputational does not match in en_GB.

I don't know what /MS and /MO mean, but I noticed that differed on the prefix reputation between en_US & en_GB, so I tried the former too wondering if perhaps it was an Americani(z)m I was unaware of, but that didn't accept it either.

It's unqualified as such or as slang or anything on Wiktionary, and in fact Collins describes it as 'formal'.

Swedish Thesaurus update

In Swedish, typing lärare (teacher) shows idioter (idiots) as a synonym. They are not synonyms. Also, one is singular and the other one is plural.

Solution: Remove lines L11328 and L11329, which will stop lärare from appearing as a synonym for idioter, and remove idioter from line L15947, which will stop idioter from appearing as a synonym for lärare.

Stray `i` in Croatian .dic file

Hi.

I was trying to use the hr_HR dictionary with elasticsearch for a hunspell based stemmer.

But, elastic returned an error when creating the index:

{
      "error": {
        "root_cause":[{
          "type":"index_creation_exception",
          "reason":"failed to create index"
        }],
        "type":"unchecked_execution_exception",
        "reason":"java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: \"205i\"",
        "caused_by":{
          "type":"number_format_exception",
          "reason":"For input string: \"205i\""
        }
      },
      "status":500
    }

In hr_HR.dic at line 11960 there is the entry:

iglun/205i

I suppose it's just a typo as there are no other entries like this?!

Upgrade polish

lemonskyjwt/plpstgrssearch#2

The polish dict is version at 2017-05-14. The newest version 2017-11-10. I will look at fixing this. Not sure what it takes to generate with new versions, or if it is a part of the build system. Will investigate 2017-11-13.

'voting' considered not a word, returned suggestions: 'shooting', 'looting', 'rioting'

I've been referred to this git by @phillipseamore of the Hunspell git regarding this particular issue:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=diBuFOK6Uhg

For some reason your spellcheck dictionary returns specific corrections for the word 'voting'; "shooting", "looting" and "rioting".
I have also posted an inquiry in the LibreOffice IRC chat and the libreoffice.org question board without response.
wtflibreoffice

I would like someone to provide a rational explanation as to how this spellcheck was produced. My word editing software's spellchecker is the last place I expected to find polemic bile.

Add leapt

In English (at least en_us), "leapt" is the correct past tense form of "leap" (contrary to popular belief, it's not "lept").

Add an open source license?

Thanks for sharing this project! We'd love to use it as part of the Mattermost open source project (https://www.mattermost.org/) in our desktop app (which users an Apache 2.0 license).

Would you consider adding either an MIT or an Apache 2.0 license?

To do so, in GitHub you can hit "Create new file" and name a file LICENSE.txt

image

This will prompt GitHub to offer a license template:

If you use either an MIT license or an Apache 2.0 license it would make it easy to add your work to other open source projects, and we'd love to include your work in ours.

Thanks kindly for your consideration.

Persian dictionary

hello everybody
there is a Persian/Farsi dictionary designed for Hunspell and all the files are available here:
https://github.com/b00f/lilak
latest vesion: https://github.com/b00f/lilak/releases/
it's a good project with native Persian speakers constantly updating it.
we opened a ticket here but for some reason after almost one year it is not added to LibreOffice (or i can't see it).
this is the first ticket:
https://github.com/LibreOffice/dictionaries/issues/22
thank you all for the hard work.
