Backlight

Hello,
on dm1801, 28h feb 2022 version backlight is not working as intended.
It just stays on unless "off" is selected

No bug, just info

Hi there,

reading your documentation I missed one point, that I found not described.

Device: GD-77
Changing VFO from A to B is done by pressing the orange button, then change from A to B.

It is much easier: long press red key changes from VFO A to B.

One thing, the doc also did not tell:

If using dual watch and one of the VFOs is set to DMR and the other to FM, does it switch between FM and DMR?
Could not verify this,m as I got no second transceiver, but maybe you know.

Best regards

Hans

You wont allow people to join the forum without a call sign and ignore registrations without one.

Since I found this out and realised that was why my registration had been ignored, I emailed the admin to assure that im not a Bot (just an excuse IMO) but my emails go totally ignored.

Its this sort of thing that give hams the reputation of being hostile to those outside their circle.

Swapping DMR/FM modes

The manual states:

https://github.com/LibreDMR/OpenGD77_UserGuide/blob/master/OpenGD77_User_Guide.md#changing-between-fm-mode-and-dmr-mode

Changing between FM mode and DMR mode Press the SK1 + Star keys to toggle between FM and DMR mode, on either the VFO or Channel screens.

However on both my GD-77 and TYT-9600, the key combination appears to be SK2 + Star (or P1 + Star on the 9600).

I'm still attempting to determine if I am misunderstanding the documentation or if I inadvertently made a change on my radios that is causing them to act differently from the documentation. So far I'm not finding anything.

Max channels in a zone

A suggestion: There is a note in the GD-77S section that mentions the channel limits in a zone:

Although the OpenGD77 CPS and codeplug format allows up to 80 channels per Zone, the GD-77S can only access the first 16 channels in each Zone, so codeplugs designed for the GD-77 containing more than 16 channels will need to be modified so that each zone only contains a maximum of 16 channels.

As I don't have a GD-77S, it didn't occur to me to look in that section for channel limitations. Perhaps a section that details the limitations of each model or the limitation could be mentioned in the CPS section (the note suggests it's a limitation of the CPS and not the radio).

Great job with the documentation! I find myself regularly referring to it and having "a-ha" moments all the time as I gain a better understanding of the firmware.

Outdated or broken link?

The link to download the OpenGD77 CPS software, https://www.opengd77.com/downloads/CPS/Latest, is broken.

I even get a security alert from the browser.

The correct link should be
https://www.opengd77.com/downloads/PC_CPS_20230910/Latest/

However, now the zip file requires a password (which is the release number)

P.S. Why the GD77 project is NOT on GitHub? The website/forum/repository is really a pain in the neck to make sense of. I spent 1h to reconstruct all the above information. This is NOT user friendly. Why is the Open GD77 community not "open" :( ?
