I was courious about the module :-)

I found that you use a raycast, which i think might be a bit overkill.

I would try to use the following:

if ( Vector3d.Dot(static.position - body.position , Sun.position ) < 0 )

maybe i got the math mixed up, but basicly if checks if the vector of the body core to the asset is pointing to the same direction as the sun. (maybe I got the diretions swaped, but thats the basic idea often used in kOS to check if you are facing in the same direction)

This should be a lot less resource intensive than a raycast.
But i really like your idea and execution.
