On login, instead of just returning the auth token, return a server url root as well. That way, we can add an arbitrary number of backend servers whenever the need arises.

The roster needs custom serialization, because DataContracts either fail silently or miserably.

Loading roster images takes up to 3 seconds (with a large enough contact list, or a slow connection), and that slows down the login dance. Caching the images should reduce startup time by a significant amount.

Sometimes dates from the server and the phone are not synchronized and the date of the message may be in the future. This throws an exception in ThreadDateTimeConverter (introduced by #40).

instead of sending tile notifications for every single person that sends you a message, let the client register a list of contacts they want to get notifications from. this will eventually become a server feature (send tile notifications for status changes of the registered contacts).
