The Windows Telnet client displays duplicate letters when typing: root@svr04:/# llss --ll
The Cygwin Telnet client doesn't display duplicate characters, but does re-display the command after pressing enter:

root@svr04:~# cd /
cd /
root@svr04:/# ls
ls
bin        boot       dev        etc        home       initrd.img lib

Both do not handle pressing backspace correctly. For the below examples, I typed and backspaced "echo." The location of the cursor is indicated by the pipe character.
Windows: root@svr04:~# |echo
Cygwin: root@svr04:~# | e c h o

Netcat under Cygwin behaves the same as Telnet.
Running Cowrie in Ubuntu 16.04 and using Ubuntu's telnet and netcat behave the same as Cygwin.
