Hi, thank you for the nice addon, it works great. I have one question: how do I automate this?

A few items to consider:
Trigger backup from frontend button
Trigger backup on a schedule
Trigger backup on a change to a file or group of files (poll for changes)
Trigger backup from an external curl request, or through the HASS API, or IFTTT

Using FTP Backup with latest HA installed on a Pi.
It randomly stops.

It can be reproduced by installing FTP Backup from the repo, set it up, start it
Then launch it via an Automation. FTP Backup stops after a few seconds.

Also, why doesnt FTP backup remove the files in /backup/ dir when uploaded?

Currently the Dockerimage is not building in home assistant as the latest alpine got rid of the python 2 packages.
Either it should use an older alpine base image or install the required packages differently.

Is there a way to configure a purge for backups older then X days?

Found out my disk was full due to all the old backups stored in /use/share/hassio/backup...

Such feature would prevent this...

Right now, it creates a backup of /config, puts it in /backup and upload that file to FTP.
I would like if it is possible to just upload the whole /backup folder to FTP.

Maybe you could at a flag in the user-config that says “backup whole backup directory”?

Reason for asking is that I have daily full snapshots configured and I would like to put these on FTP instead of just the /config folder. The snapshots contain much more IMHO…

Error on Addonstart: s6-overlay-suexec: fatal: can only run as pid 1

The backup script should check if there were any changes meanwhile and perform only a backup if there was a change.
This feature should be enabled/disabled via configuration.

This feature allow to trigger the addon e.g. daily or an startup to automatically backup without any user interaction.
