spoutcam's Introduction

SpoutCam

SpoutCam is a virtual webcam that is also a Spout receiver.

This project extends the original SpoutCam project and is based on the considerable work and expertise of Valentin Schmidt who assembled a self-contained solution for Visual Studio 2017, including the Directshow base classes.

DirectX version

The Master branch contains a version of SpoutCam based on DirectX. The project requires some but not all of the files from the Spout SDK, currently the Beta branch for Version 2.007. Not all files are needed because the project has been revised to use DirectX 11 instead of OpenGL. The SpoutDX class manages these functions. The files required are included in this repository and can be updated from the beta branch if necessary.

OpenGL version

The OpenGL branch contains the original version of SpoutCam based on OpenGL. The OpenGL version may not be updated after 2.007 release.

Binaries folder

Binaries for both release and debug compile, are copied as either SpoutCam32.ax or SpoutCam64.ax to the "release" folder and also to a "binaries\SPOUTCAM" folder which contains separate folders to 32bit (SpoutCam32) and 64bit (SpoutCam64) builds

SpoutCam options

"SpoutCamSettings.exe" has also been copied to the "binaries\SPOUTCAM" folder and can be used to set options for SpoutCam. Documentation for the functions can be found in the program itself using the |?| buttons.

Register SpoutCam.

"SpoutCamSettings" can also be used to register SpoutCam. Registration can also be done manually. The "SpoutCam32" and "SpoutCam64" folders contain batch files for this purpose. Refer to the readme.txt file in the "binaries\SPOUTCAM" folder.

spoutcam's Issues

The color is not displayed correctly.

Hello author. I am using the KlakSpout plugin, and I want to display Unity content through SpoutCam. However, the colors displayed in SpoutCam do not match the colors shown in Unity. I don't know what the problem is. I saw there is a Swap option in SpoutCam Settings, but switching it doesn't have any effect.

rgba support

I noticed that the code converts RGBA shared texture to RGB.
There seems to be alpha channel support in other virtual camera projects

I'm not sure if this is a compatibility concern, but it is possible in OBS studio to get the transparency of the virtual camera source.

Black screen using Spout Sender Demo and OBS/GoogleMeet

So I have no idea what I did but I managed to get things working briefly then was completely unable to replicate it. Right now I simply get a black screen.

Here is how my issue can be reproduced:

  1. Ensure the latest version of Spout is installed.
  2. Download the latest version v2.030 of Spoutcam, open the application and register.
  3. Leave all other settings at the defaults and click OK.
  4. Start the Spout Sender Demo.
  5. Attempt to use SpoutCam virtual camera in OBS or Google Meet.
  6. It does not work, just a black screen.

As I mentioned I was at some point able to get this working momentarily with NestDropMidnight and OBS but then was unable to get it working again.

Any help would be appreciate and can help troubleshoot.

zoom random crush...

When calling spoutcam in video conferencing software zoom, the zoom software will crash after a period of time and the screen output will be black.
