I just noticed something new in the message that I don't remember from before. Here is the full text ...

$ node-fibers /opt/node/bb/dev/utils/test
dirname: extra operand `Cannot'
Try `dirname --help' for more information.
Could not find the coroutine shim!

from node-fibers.

I tried running a tst.js that contained only

require.resolve('fibers');

and it couldn't resolve fibers, which explains the "extra operand `Cannot'" in the error msg. This happens with node tst.js and node-fibers tst.js. I installed fibers with -g so this surprises me.

I also tried running node tst.js directly in /usr/local/lib right next to the node_modules folder. The little I know about how node finds modules tells me I should be able to find fibers. I replaced the require above with

cs = require('coffee-script');

and it loaded fine. The coffee-script directory and the fibers directory are both in /usr/local/lib/node_modules.

What am I doing wrong?

Did you read the updated documentation for installing? You must ensure the fibers module is in your NODE_PATH, or you can symlink fibers to lib/node.

Sorry. I'll RTFM. I just panicked when I saw the old message.

I think the symlink command I have in the documentation is a bit finicky, but basically just find the node-fibers directory and symlink it to node's lib directory.
