markertoolbox's Issues

Option to change the Marker Type

I'd love to see an option to change the Marker type (Standard, To Do, Chapter) in the MarkerToolbox interface. To Do Markers make sense, but sometimes I'd like to create VFX Markers and I tend to use Chapter Markers for them. Unfortunately there is no way in FCP to batch change markers. MarkerToolbox would save me a lot of time if I could choose the Marker Type!

Copy-Paste Markers doesn't place them at the correct Timecode

If I Command+C markers in the Edit Index and then paste them (Option+V) in the active timeline, the markers will be added at a different Timecode. See the Before/After screenshots. Might be a bug in FCP?!

Ideally I'd want to place my markers on the primary storyline instead of to the connected clips, copy-pasting would be the easiest and fastest way.

Create Titles instead of Clips

Knut Hake writes:

And i was wondering if it would be possible in your marker toolbox to have the option to have short title clips with the marker on them and the text in them instead of the short video clips you generate.

Option to disable titles

Iain Anderson writes:

A quick feature request. Is it possible for Marker Toolbox to not include the visible on-screen titles? I would be happy to just have the markers, to avoid the risk of accidentally exporting a one-frame title into the final video.

Add support for Wipster.io CSVs

Suggested by Alister Robbie via Twitter.

CSV Format:

Title,Version,Timecode,Thread Id,Comment Type,Reply,Created By,Creation Date & Time,Comment,Task Completed

Can't apply Timecode+ Markers to existing clips

Jeff Roy writes on Bluesky:

I love the product. Love having it in my arsenal. The only hangup is I was never able to get timecode+ markers applied onto existing clips in the browser. Dragging in a new slug from Marker Toolbox works properly.

However, I just did a basic test, and it seemed to work:

Will chase up Jeff for more information.

Add support for Frame.io Comments

Benjamin Evans writes on Facebook:

That's great, Frame io still havnt fixed a bug where all comments are imported in black hollow text... making it very difficult to read. Might be time to switch back to Vimeo and give this a try.

A way to completely ignore frames?

Clients and my team almost always comment with minutes and seconds, never with hours and frames.

"12:20" is 12th minute, 20th second", never 12th second, frame 20.

Marker Toolbox insists on interpreting "12:20" as "second 12, frame 20". I tried adding various things like "Ignore frames. 12:22 means minute 12, second 22, NOT second 12, frame 22" to the prompt to no avail. Any tips?

Apply Timecode Offset

It would be great if an offset could be applied to timecodes in Marker Toolbox. I have two scenarios currently where it would be a great help.

Clients often leave out the 10-hour portion of timecode in hand-written notes: e.g. they refer to 10:01:30:00 as "1:30". I'm getting around this in the (excellent—thank you!) Marker Toolbox by temporarily changing the timecode of the sequence (in this case, Avid) to start at 00:00:00:00, importing the notes, then changing it back to 10:00:00:00.

Also, if they send their notes in more than one batch (sometimes they'll only watch and respond to the first half and expect you to do those notes while they watch the rest), the timecode they refer to is often different now from the latest sequence. Applying an offset to all the new timecodes would bring it back into line for import.

Duration of visible comment

By default the generated length of the comment is one frame. In bigger projects it is difficult to hover and see the comment in Viewer. Ability to set duration of the text to eg 10 or 20 frames would be great.

Add support for Dropbox Replay

Aaron Trinder writes:

This is brilliant !!! Can’t wait to try it out. Any chance you could do a similar translation with Dropbox replay ?

Add ability to apply markers to an imported clip

It would be great if you could drag in a Video Clip, Multicam Clip or Synchronised Clip, and have Marker Toolbox apply the markers to that specific clip, which you could drag back into Final Cut Pro.

Add ability to only import specific version from Vimeo & Wipster CSV

It might be worthwhile adding a way to select a specific video version (or versions?) from a Vimeo CSV, based on @moosefuel's comments.

Hi Chris & Co.,

When I import a .csv file from Vimeo into my timeline, I get some pretty unusual behaviour. I'm not sure if it is importing markers from old versions, or just importing them out of order. I hope this is the place to post this.

If you look at the screen recording here, you can see that...

  1. I download the .csv file from the Vimeo review page,
  2. open Marker Toolbox and select the downloaded .csv file,
  3. drag the green xml icon onto my timeline
  4. peruse the markers, some of which don't seem to match the actual comments on the review page,
  5. open up the .csv file in Apple Numbers to find out where the extra markers are from

I don't understand very well the syntax of these .csv files, maybe this is expected behaviour and I just don't understand?

I am attaching the .csv file also.

Vimeo has changed it's CSV formatting

Hi, i bought your software last month and everything was REALLY fine on the first project i used it on. My client used the Vimeo review page to add notes, i downloaded the .csv file, drag and dropped it in the fcp workflow extension and obtained a nice compound with all the markers, easy peasy. It was the first time in years that getting notes from a client was so streamlined and simple.

In the last week i started a new project, a 20 episodes television series and i decided that i was the right project to get the most out of Vimeo and your software. I have already exported several interviews to be cut by my producers, they already added the notes, but today, with my surprise, when i tried to import it in Marker Toolbox, i have only obtained a very short compound clip with no markers whatsoever.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall the application, using the stand alone version instead of the workflow extension, but nothing seems to work. The only way to get a working compound clip with markers is to copy the content of the .csv file and processing it as a text, but in this way everything that is written on the .csv file is written on the marker so it is really confusing and annoying.

I downloaded the csv from the project i already closed last month (the one where i used Marker Toolbox without problems) and it gives me the same problem, a really short compound with no markers. Next thing, i searched in my hard disks for a backup of the old notes downloaded last month and those files work like a charm.

I opened in Text Edit the new and the old version of the .csv downloaded from Vimeo and there's something different in the syntax of the file, in the new version the are a lot more quote characters, i copy/paste here two lines from the different files:

OLD ONE - February, 23 2024
"PNSS24 V2",25,01:53:22,"ProNails Italia","qui metti il Collage Nail art",--,"Friday, February 23, 2024 At 3:41 PM",Yes

NEW ONE - Today March, 27 2024
"PNSS24 V2",25,01:53:22,"ProNails Italia","qui metti il Collage Nail art","""--""","""Friday, February 23"""", 2024 At 3:41 PM""",Yes

It seems a problem on the Vimeo side, but it renders almost unusable your application, i'm attaching the two files so you can check the situation and maybe give me a solution.

Add setting to ignore resolved markers in Vimeo & Wipster CSV

It might be worthwhile adding a checkbox to ignore resolved markers when importing a Vimeo CSV, based on @moosefuel's comments.
