mesh-sed's Introduction

MESH-SED

Semi-distributed and physically-based sediment transport model for MESH.

Compilation

  1. type: make. It produces an executable sa_mesh_sed in bin dir
  2. (optional) type make clean to delete *.o files and the executable sa_mesh_sed

Execution

type: ./bin/sa_mesh_sed path/to/the/project (e.g. ./bin/sa_mesh_sed test). Thepath/to/the/project is a directoty that contain the following input files:

  1. MESH_sed_gridCell.ini
  2. MESH_sed_soilVegChan.ini
  3. MESH_sed_param.ini
  4. MESH_sed_reservoir.ini

and the following output directories:

  1. output_field
  2. output_ts

note that this directories must exist in the path/to/the/project dir previous to model execution.

Introduction of a new river type in order to consider hydraulic variability

Aim

  • Introduction of a new river type field to differentiate hydraulic conditions in the channels.
  • Every river type has their own a and b parameter used within the potential functions to re-estimate hydraulic variables (velocity, depth, width) wrongly estimated in MESH.
  • It is expected that the model performance improve in the basin headwaters.

Introduction of coefficients for hydraulics uncertainty

Aim

Introduce new coefficients to account for the uncertainty (error) of the MESH hydraulic variables for hillslope and in-stream flow. The coefficients are going to affect the: Velocity and depth on both the hillslope and in-stream flows and the channel width.

Expected results

  • Improve the model results by calibrating this parameters
  • Assess the model sensitivity to changes in input hydraulic variables.
