You're probably not working on this anymore, but there's a big problem I've noticed with the Strata mod:
The stones added are literally the weakest things when it comes to explosions. This makes creepers way more dangerous, and makes Strata way easier to break through than regular stone, when using explosives.
This makes it a bit... undesirable, depending on what you're after.

The ideal scenario would be config options for the explosive resistance of both Strata layers, but at least having them be as resistant as stone would be nice.
Maybe them being weaker to it will create some interesting gameplay, but it's also really weird.

One other thing is that stones added from other mods seem to keep the default hardness, or have normal stone hardness.
So, while the stone should be as hard as all stone around it (since it's defined in the stone section), it's as easy to break as always, which is just annoying.

I'm glad I found your Github, you've one a lot of good work here.
I've always wanted to tweak mods, but I could never get an environment up to compile them. Maybe one day I'll figure it out and join you in updating 1.7.10 mods, but until then, all I can do is report issues.
Perhaps learn a bit of java along the way, too.
