Hey knexator!
I couldn't find your email so thought I would post here! Huge fan that you have started the implementation of hyperbolic tilings, I love these visualizations.
I was wondering if I could sort of help you in some way to show me how to use this project with some clean demos in JavaScript, purely in the browser (basically how to use the hyperbolic-tiling
and hyperboloid-model
packages). I would love to discuss more what it would take to get these projects over the line (not sure how far you got or if they are finished). I tried to run your hyperbolic-canvas
project but I'm not that advanced with the math stuff so don't really know how to get it working (and would like to not have a backend or anything).
I don't have much to offer financially, but perhaps I could sort of open source sponsor you in some way or we could otherwise work together for a little bit to show me how to draw 2D Poincaré visualizations like this one. If you wanted to chat more about it, here or email would be amazing ([email protected]).
Mainly I am eager to create visualizations with cool colors like these sorts of 2D ones. In the long run, I am looking for how to colorize and click on the tiles as well, and even perhaps animating the tile like the hyperrogue games (way down the road ultimately, if it's not crazy hard). TBH all I really would love to figure out currently is how to do that static heptagonal tiling, but these more complex examples just show how far I would like to take it. I don't want to make a game, but I would like to be able to create interactive diagrams and walkthroughs like this sort of thing (which is here a frame-by-frame animation):
You seem like you've already figured this stuff out, the math is pretty involved and over my head at the moment. And your code looks clean and minimal as compared to some of the CSharp, C++, and Java implementations one may come across on the web (which are hard to navigate). So hoping I can help you help me learn how to use what you've made!
