heidisql-snap's Issues

How to get ssh tunnel working with private key?

Hey there,

how can I use the SSH tunnel feature with a private key?

I put my key under "~/id_rsa" on my host system. When I select that key for an ssh tunnel with ssh.exe it shows the key path as "Z:/home//id_rsa" and when connecting, it errors out with the following message:

Connection failed

Could not execute SSH command:

ssh.exe <ssh-user>@<ssh-host> -p 22 -i "Z:\home\<user>\id_rsa" -N -L <local port>:127.0.0.1:3306

System message: File not found

"File not found" leads me to believe that it has something to do with how snap handles the mounting and granting permissions to the file system. However, I cannot figure out how to fix this. Temporarily granting chmod +r did not change the result either, so it is probably a path issue.

Any ideas?

Upgrade to the latest HeidiSQL version

As of today, HeidiSQL has released version 12.5, whereas this snap package is stuck at 12.1.

I'd be glad to create a pull request to upgrade HeidiSQL, but there are no instructions in the repository on how to get it.

Thank you!

Broken since 12.0 - CertCreateCertificateChainEngine failed. Error 2147942487/0x80070057

Ever since HeidiSQL 12.0 released, running HeidiSQL Portable through Wine and trying to connect to a server using SSL causes the following error:

Connection failed.

SSL connection error: CertCreateCertificateChainEngine failed. Invalid parameter. Error 2147942487/0x80070057

This might be a bug with Wine itself, however I'm not entirely sure. What I do know is that version 11.3 of HeidiSQL Portable does not have this issue.

Because this snap just downloads the latest HeidiSQL Portable release, trying to connect to a server using SSL will result in that CertCreateCertificateChainEngine error, and there is no old channel on the snap from which to download 11.3 rendering it impossible to use SSL with heidisql-snap anymore.

For anyone who has run into the same issue and searched online to find absolutely no information on this issue whatsoever, this can fortunately be worked around by manually downloading and extracting HeidiSQL_11.3_64_Portable.zip and then simply running heidisql.exe with wine.

I'm unsure if the 32-bit version of 11.3 works - all 32-bit versions of HeidiSQL gave me a different error when trying to connect using SSL no matter which version I tried so it's possible I'm just missing something there - but doing this with the 64-bit version worked for me.
