ecotools's Introduction

EEBtools.org

Want to learn more about the tools that ecologists, evolutionary biologists (and others in related fields) use to do make their science rock?

Wonder no more! We've just launched EEBtools Feel free to suggest new folks to interview from the about page.

If you're git savvy and want to submit your own interview, just fork this repo and add your firstname-lastname.md based on this template to the repo and send a pull request.

Just be sure you drop your firstname-lastname.md file into the _drafts folder on the gh-pages branch.

ecotools's Issues

tags

Fantastic work setting up Jekyll @tpoisot. Looks great. How about we do tags so people can see fieldecologist, theoreticalecologist etc?

It should be in the interview pages and also in the index (http://eebtools.org/interviews/)

Ideas

The potential for this site could be great. We don't just get to find out what other ecologists use in terms of hardware/software (which would be interesting, especially to us) but we could also find out tons more. Like if people are really passionate about some equipment they use in the field, their labs etc. The possibilities are endless. Some examples: cameras, data loggers, 3d printers to a range of other stuff.

What do you guys think? The domain eebtools.org could be good (projects a non-commercial TLD). .info is even cheaper ($4/year). Thoughts?

Fails without pic

I added myself as a test without a picture. template does not check for missing pic.

and 2) New post does not automatically go on the index.

Also how many posts do we want on the main page? 3, 5?

Thoughts @tpoisot?

Comments

Hi
Great idea!
How about adding comments?
It's really easy to do with disqus, will probably take 5 mins to setup.
I think it would give people a chance to further discuss tools they are interested in, ask more questions - open source the interview.
BTW - maybe also add link to this repo in the about page where you suggest to fork it.

Congrats and good luck
