Building

Xcode 13 or later is required.

  • Select the "Iron" project in the Xcode sidebar
  • Under "Targets", select "Iron"
  • Change the "Bundle Identifier", "App Group" and "iCloud Container" to something unique like com.yourname.Iron
  • Go to the "Signing & Capabilities" tab and select your development team under "Signing > Team"
  • Repeat the same process for the other targets where applicable
  • Build the Iron scheme. (Note that due to a bug in Xcode 14 the scheme for the Iron target might not be autocreated and you'll have to create it manually.)

Vision for this app

Hello! After spending a lot of time searching for the perfect workout tracker (even attempting & failing to learn Swift to do it myself...) I've come across this app. Surprisingly it's open source, and implements many of the functions I need!

Some functionality seems to be missing, though. For example, being able to complete/modify your set from the Apple Watch. The app 'Strong' has a very good implementation of this functionality, and I think this app could also benefit from this feature. It allows the user to not even take the phone out of their pocket during the workout.

Is this app still under active development? Is this a planned feature for the app? Is there even a roadmap? I want to help to make this app better, and will contribute, if this is something that would be appreciated for this project. I'll have to get better at SwiftUI first, though :D

Ability to Program Wieghts into Workouts

By default it seems the weights and reps are copied from workout to workout.

This works great for programs that rely on linear progression, as I can simply bump the weight up by 5-10lbs each workout.
However, I like to schedule my workouts on week by week basis and are based on % of 1RM. For examples programs like 5/3/1, NSuns, and SBS programs all use percentages from a training max rather than a linear progression.

While obviously it would be a huge feature to implement different progression schemes, I think it would be simple to allow the user to program in their own weights session to session. Then they can use whatever formulas outside the app to calculate their progression.

Currently I get around this just by writing the weight I will use in the comments field.

Add Plate Calculator

I think a plate calculator would be a nice addition to the app.

Side note, I've used your app for a couple years. Im really happy to see it open sourced.
