In mdzfileio.h:

#define FBUFLEN 4096

isn't enough to load very deep parameters with long coordinates (I have one .mdz file for testing/benchmarking that is 23583 bytes, with over 10kB each for cx and cy). I patched my local copy like this:

#define FBUFLEN (4096*16)

but a proper fix would maybe be to seek to the end of the file, get the length, seek back to the start, and read into a buffer mallocated to a big enough size. That wouldn't work for non-seekable files (but I don't know if that is important).
