sbt-s2i's Introduction

s2i for sbt

Created using s2i v1.1.7

create

Create the s2i image with

#! SBT_VERSION=0.13.16 SCALA_VERSION=2.12.3 make

invoke

build an image tagged as image-name

s2i build <path / url> sbt-s2i <image-name>

configuration

SBT_SUBPROJECT; optional string that specifies the sbt subproject to build in (not needed if not multi-project)
plugins.sbt; contains default set of sbt plugins that will be cached during the image build

OpenShift Imagestream

An OpenShift Imagestream is provided that can be used in the OpenSHift console to build applications using this s2i image. To use it, simply add it as follows:

oc create -f sbt.yml

Note the openshift user must have rights to the openshift namespace (i.e. a cluster admin).

Take versions from git tag

Use git tags to define the sbt and scala versions in the image.

Currently building images on Docker Hub so can use hooks to do the parsing

incremental builds fail

mv: cannot move '/tmp/artifacts/.' to './.': Device or resource busy

sbt 1.0 support

Shrink image

When using s2i builds without incremental building it would be useful to reduce size of resulting image.

pulled artifacts
compiled artifacts
...

Support binary builds

Not a showstopper or anything, but it would be nice if this could support binary builds at some point.

Rebuild 1.1.4-2.12.4

1.1.4-2.12.4 build is broken as sbt 1.1.4 does not appear to be published to bintray https://bintray.com/sbt/rpm/sbt

Just need to kick off new build on docker hub when 1.1.4 is out there.
