Must persist counter across restarts

As a Service Provider
I need he service to persist the last known count
So that users don't lose track of their counts after the service is restarted.

Details and Assumptions

  • We will use Redis database
  • Counter will be stored as name value pair

Acceptance Criteria

Given I have incremented the counter to 2
When I will restart the service
Then the counter should still return 2

Deploy service to the cloud.

  • We will use IBM cloud with k8s

Acceptance Criteria

Given that our app is deployed in cloud
When the user demand increases
Then our cloud deploy scales to satisfy the demand

Counters can be reset

As a System Administrator
I need the ability to reset the counter
So that I can redo counting from the start.

Details and Assumptions

  • create rest api post endpoint /counter/{name}/reset
  • We should require key based authentication on the endpoint

Acceptance Criteria

Given I have administrator level key
And the key "val" set to 2 
When I call /counter/val/reset
Then the get for key "val" returns 0

Need the ability to update a counter to a new value.

As a User
I need A way to set counter to a specific value
So that I can migrate from previously used system

Details and Assumptions

  • Current value of the counter should be disregarded
  • Only positive values should be accepted

Acceptance Criteria

Given that the key exists
When I call the endpoint to set its value to 5
Then 5 is returned when i call get on the value

Need a service that has a counter

As a User
I need a service that has a counter
So that I can keep track of how many times something was done.

  • Need a way to increment a counter
  • Need a way to get the current value

Acceptance Criteria

Given I have incremented the counter to 2
When I make a call to get the current value
Then it should return 2 as the counter value

Complete Deploy to the Cloud

As a Maintainer
I need cloud to also scale
So that the users do not get denial of service

  • The app was deployed to static cloud already
  • We need dynamic provisioning

Given the number of users increases
When we start running out of system resources
Then the cloud instance is scaled
