din on usb key

We need to make a bootable usb key that boots into din. Turn any computer
into a musical instrument. The key will also have development tools to
continue development of din on that computer.

Ability to delete resonators in strength editor

Resonators can be added in the strength editor.
Want ability to delete 1 or more resonators so that the user can freely add
resonators to see how they affect the sound and delete them later if they
arent good. Right now he can add but not delete.

Seperate help files for each command.

Need separate help file for each command available in din. This will allow
detailed help & examples. help right now is mostly available as one-liners
which is not enough. Option for both would be good too.

save sound file

10:34 < dspstv> i spent yesterday hours trying to record my din session
10:34 < dspstv> vmix didnt do it
10:34 < dspstv> gstreamer refused also
10:35 < dspstv> sox only got sound via sound card inputs
10:35 < jag> and we use oss, a basic api
10:35 < dspstv> so i had to go analogic with cables
10:35 < jag> they all like complicated :)
10:35 < dspstv> jag, i think is possible to tell oss to save to file
10:36 < jag> actually saving is not difficult at all
10:36 < jag> libsndfile
10:36 < jag> can save samples
10:36 < jag> could file an issue :)
10:36 < dspstv> deal!

Library of sounds

Make a library of sound settings that can create different 'sounds' when
played with the keyboard, mouse or a music controller. This makes it very
friendly for beginners to get into din and explore its potential.

Support MIDI

Support MIDI protocol and in consequence MIDI controllers. Especially a
MIDI keyboard with a bunch of sliders, knobs and buttons.

set-var dmv doesn't seem to work

when I use set-var dmv 0 it never silences the drones, instead setting the dmv
a random number. I also want to use set-var with the start-end patch to map dmv
to a slider so I do

assign 1 0 1 {sv dmv}

but it still doesn't work.

save settings

will it be possible to have some sort of way to save the last settings one had
before closing din?
i know din restores some of it but not all, i wont mind having different .din
folders depending on the date one used it but the idea is to be able to get
back to some sound one had the last time din was used.

need nearest_note, hz2step commands

need nearest_note, hz2step commands

nearest_note <frequency> returns note value eg., nearest_note 261 gives C.

hz2step <frequency> <sampling_rate> gives step for use in waveform stepping

setting curves

I'd like to be able to set the curves in a curve library outside the
curve-editor screen, e.g.

"set-curve drone 2" would set the curve of the drone to the second one in the
library.

This would also make it possible to assign curves to midi signals.

keyboard size

is there a way to query via OSC the size of the keyboard so to now how to
address its coordinates remotely? also, will there be a way to tell din to
rezise the keyboard to a particular set of dimensions.

this is not just in regards to having a jam across the network but to have
lets say puredata sending OSC pointer coordinates.

hope is clear.

support for non us/uk keyboards

many hotkeys are not valid on non US keyboards, thus making the program barely
usable for non USA citizens; it would be essential for us to have the
possibility to redefine the hotkeys, for example through some conf files.

Ability to record DIN audio session

Hi, Although we can record the audio output from DIN by connecting some
recorder through jack, it would be useful if DIN had a built function to deal
with this.
I believe it should be possible to use jack.record ( as jack is now available
for all platforms )

using the linux version DIN 5.2.1

din segfaults on Arch

Hi,
I'm new to din. But I can't get

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Install din 3.0 on Arch
2. Start din (whether jackd is already started or not)
3. din segfaults

It makes no difference whether I erase the ~/.din folder as stated in the FAQ

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Din should start somehow. The console throws some lines and ends in segfault.

- Din 3.0
- Arch Linux with kernel 3.3.2-1
- jack2 (jackdmp) 1.9.8
