Hi, your approach on sortable id's looks very promising. Today I tried to implement it in an vite powered vue app, without success.

Polyfilling in vite should be possible though. I played with hints from vitejs/vite#3126 and https://stackoverflow.com/questions/69286329/polyfill-node-os-module-with-vite-rollup-js

but didn't succeed. The closest I could get was to "crypto_default.randomFillSync is not a function" after shiming Buffer and crypto.

So my hope is, that someone with a clear view may find the proper way out of that rabbit hole.

How does your library behave in a browser context ?

My current project will need Universally-unique Lexicographic Identifiers AND to work equally on the client side (ideally in a service worker) or the server. I settled to ULIDx so far but you library may be a good challenger :-)
