abcde's Issues

Newbie learning notes

The crux of this issue is that I need to (pseudo)

// ONE
Create a batch file to run nightly
//TWO
Have this batch file run either sqlcmd or sqlcmd => storedproc to run some queries
//THREE
Include functions to (based on varying factors from the results) output the results to an excel file
//FOUR
Email that excel file to me as part of the daily cycle.

This may seem silly, but I haven't written a batch file before, per se. I made one utilizing task scheduler and got my SMTP to facilitate it emailing me nightly.

Issue with false 404 on SCSReport.cshtml

Copied over the SCS logic that should hook up SCS Reports to the navbar similar to pilot.

Everything should be the same, but I'm getting a 404 error.

THINGS TRIED TO FIX IT:

  • Portion of the C# logic still stated (psuedo) if user = "kbartz" // do stuff. Moved to my login, no change

NITT Symphony bug

When I utilize symphony trying to fix the spacing I have to use the custom built in classes MSO and have no idea really how they are appropriately used. It also will not allow you to launch unless the document you are basing your work off is closed down.

Legitimate Subversion Bug - No newbie intruige

Okay, sometimes these are learning experiences for me. Sometimes there is a certain element of 'user error' involved. This does not appear to be one of those times.

On two verifiable occasions, one in which I had our most senior subversion person sit alongside me and watch me step by step throughout this process, this happened.

  1. Made changes, tested them again in browser, then merged them to trunk. No red flags insofar as the files I was expected to see go fipfipfip down the page that I'd altered all are there as usual. No conflicts. No strange warning or error messages. Merge success messages.
  2. Commit trunk. No ankh identified uncommitted files in the file tree
  3. Look in trunk - AS IF THOSE CHANGES NEVER HAPPENED.

Here is where some variation gets introduced.

  1. The first time, sitting with the senior subversion guru of my work, we did a SECOND successful looking merge, step by step. The alterations still, stubbornly, did not port over
  2. This happened to me again today, and in an immediate repeat attempt to do the merge, the changes moved over successfully and I confirmed the fix launching trunk in the browser.

I'm taking notes of an instance since this is a recurrent thing. Today it was my KCS HSLS branch 69478 that failed, and 69600 that ultimately succeeded
