a2dp-connect's Issues

Fail to connect on Moto Droid, Android 2.2.3

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Logitech Adapter is paired but not connected, Bluetooth is off.
2. First tap on widget turns on Bluetooth successfully, but does not try to
connect.
3. Second tap on widget says "Connecting (6C)Logitech Apapter", but it never
connects. On "Bluetooth Settings" page, Logitech adapter says "Connecting..."
4. Third and following taps say "Disconnecting (6C)Logitech Adapter". On
Bluetooth Settings page, Logitech Adapter says "Disconnecting...". The only
way out of this state is to manually turn off Bluetooth.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

First tap should turn on Bluetooth (if needed) and connect. Or at least the
first tap should turn on BT and the second tap should connect.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Version 1.0.12 (Feb 3, 2013)

Please provide any additional information below.

Original Motorola Droid, Android v 2.2.3, Build Number FRK76.

2 suggestions

At first I thought it didn't work as the check mark in options for the device
didn't change but it does turn off and on A2DP for the device. I would give it
5 stars if the widget displayed the state of the A2DP (background changes color
from green to red?) and the check mark in the options changed. I am using
Android 2.3.4 Droid Incredible, Motorola whisper

Thanks

A2DP not working

What steps will reproduce the problem?

1.When I connect to my laptop using Bluetooth

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I should be able to play music from my android phone through my laptop
speakers. But I could not see the Bluetooth advanced audio or any other service
except AAS in the services and when Bluetooth services are opened, I can only
see 'send a file' and 'synchronise' operations. The screenshot of services are
attached herewith.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

I'm having Samsung series 5 laptop with windows 8 pro with Intel Centrino
Advanced-N 6235
My mobile is Sony Ericsson Xperia mini Pro SK17i running on ICS

Please provide any additional information below.

My phone can play music on my friends' laptop running on windows 8 and my

Strange functionality when Bluetooth not enabled

If you have Bluetooth OFF when you try to create a widget it give an empty
list. I think it should prompt user to enable Bluetooth before proceeding.

If you connect a widget after Bluetooth is not enabled then it attempts to
connect but just does nothing. I think it should instead toast a "Bluetooth
not enabled" or enable it.

Does not work on Android 4.2

Tested on 2.3.4 through 4.1.2 and worked fine. Tested on Galaxy Nexus and it
always shows disconnecting. This can happen if the interface is not returned.
The Bluetooth stack in 4.2 is all new so it is quite possible the
IBluetooth.java or IBluetoothA2dp.java files have changed in 4.2 breaking the
AIDL's in A2DP Connect.

A2DPConnect plugin for Taske is not working

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. added a step in a task to use the A2DPConnect plugin to try and connect my
Sony Ericsson Vivaz Pro, my bluetooth dongle on my PC, and a Samsung Galaxy S2
but it wouldnt connect
2. I have a step in my task to make an alert if bluetooth is connected but the
alert never runs
3. I manage to get the alert to work if I: repair my cellphone (not what I'm
after) or if I use the Bluetooth GPS app to connect

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Tasker should pick up that the bluetooth is connect ans make an alert, but it
doesnt. The Tasker log shows that the task is being run successfully

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
A2DPConnect on Android ICS

Please provide any additional information below.
I think that Bluetooth GPS is successful because it tries to initiate or invoke
the target bluetooth device. Maybe this helps.

Best regards,
Sinan

Does not turn on BT in a convenient way

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Have Samsung Galaxy Note, Android 4.0.4
2. Bluetooth is off
3. Tap widget to connect to car

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I'd like the program/widget to turn on BT, then connect to the device I chose
when I placed the widget on my Home screen.

Instead, I get a system confirmation request to allow the program to activate
BT. I have to tap Yes to activate/turn on BT. Then I have to tap the widget
once more to connect to the car.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1.0.13 on Android 4.0.4

Bluetooth inconsistancy

Great widget, but i have 2 observations to do with enabling bluetooth

1) It's impossible to use this widget if your aim is to leave bluetooth on all
the time, or manually control bluetooth. The disconnect option turns off
bluetooth whether you want it to or not. Perhaps the app should only disable
bluetooth if it enabled bluetooth previously?

2) if bluetooth is disabled, then the app is able to enable it, but once it's
done so, it doesn't then automatically connect to your chosen device. You have
to press the button a second time to get this to happen. Seems a little strange
- i wouldn't have pressed the widget if i didn't want to connect to the device.

Thanks again. this app makes it far easier to explain to my wife (who is not
particularly tech savvy) how to connect to her bluetooth speaker

Does not update widget if booted with Bluetooth OFF

If you boot your device with Bluetooth OFF the widgets will not update with the
connect information. When this happens you just see "connect" on all of them.
If you click them they do nothing. Placing a new widget on the screen will
update that new widget and it will work but the old ones won't.

Temporary work around: Always have Bluetooth enabled when you shut the device
down. This will make sure it is also enabled at boot and the widgets should
load. If the widgets fail to load, throw them away and place new ones on the
home screen.

User comment: "I have installed the a2dp connect widget on my phone.
After i have placed it, it displays the name of my speakers.
But when I restart my phone, the widget displays "connect" and it doesn't work
anymore. I have to remove the widget and replace it before it starts working
asking."

music stops after switching back

Dear A2DP connect dev:

Thanks for your wonderful App. I have a Jawbone Jambox (with A2DP) support
that I use your app to switch my music to.

When I switch my music back from Jambox's A2DP, the music stops - I have to go
to the music App and start it up again.

I also do some basic Android App programming, and was looking at your code but
couldn't see how this may be fixed.. Is there a way to fix this?

Much thanks!
Bill

Not able to connect to unpaired devices

I tried connecting to unpaired devices, and it's not working. So I changed the
code a little bit. Instead of sending addr to service I tried sending
BluetoothDevice object. Still it's not working!
Is there a limitation on IBluetoothA2dp.connect(device)? like unless the device
has been paired, it won't connect!!!
                            Thanks.

Delay sound output after opening connection

It would be convenient, if the connection is established a fraction of a second
before actual sound output. This feature would be very handy for in-car
bluetooth receivers with talkover option. This feature selects the source of
sound according to actual activity on each input (USB, SD card, AUX, BT) with
given priority.
The delay of sound coming from BT is useful for voice directions from GPS
navigation apps. Without delay (and while listening to a sound source other
than BT) about the first half of a second is not transmitted to the car stereo
because of the delay of source detection of the car bluetooth receiver itself.

Source for Tasker/Locale plugin?

The project seems to contain the source for an a2dp connect widget. The
download seems to be an android install package for a tasker/ locale plugin.
Can we please have the source for the plugin and the apk for the a2dp connect?
So then we can use both and see how both of them work!
It seems strange to have "6 of one and half a dozen of the other" ;-)

Integrate with Tasker

This issue was moved from A2DP Volume since it makes much more sense to
integrate this app with Tasker than it does A2DP Volume.
