mbp-manjaro's Issues

bspwm-mate packages out of date

The bswpm-mate packages are really out of date, until their respective maintainers update the packages a image cannot be created for bspwm-mate

Snap daemon, login service

Thank you so much, live usb worked like a charm, plasma on this hidpi screen is glorious, etc. Anyway, after following all instructions in readme.md (as of the time of opening this issue), Manjaro KDE when told to boot (which for some reason requires selecting Windows in the Mac bootloader and Manjaro in the subsequent Windows boot manager-- my attempts to remove the windows startup disk entry have been unsuccessful despite wiping the windows partition, and manjaro will not show up on the main menu) brings up the "Welcome to Manjaro Linux!" line, then shows the standard systemd scrolling, but ends up in a failure loop trying to start either snap daemon, login service, keyboard backlight, or some conbination thereof, extending the expected time for as long as possible and then stopping the service so it can start again. Which leads to it failing to start, and stopping so it can start again, etc... i left it for 3.5 hours and nothing had changed...

Am I doing something wrong? Is this a special proble with the Air? If I delete some files in the manjaro partition will it fix it? Is my screwy bootloader setup the problem? I have not tried any other DE/edition

Error in building iso for KDE

Thank you so much for this amazing repo!

I was just trying to follow the steps in the "Building for yourself" section of the readme for KDE, but it stops after synchronizing package databases and throws an error. Here's my terminal output:

I tried compiling with xfce, i3 and gnome and they are working perfectly with the newly added touchbar + audio packages!

All of the above was done inside virtual box with a manjaro-xfce iso downloaded from the releases section. I also noticed that the KDE folder in drive doesn't have an iso image. Is there something that I am missing during the KDE iso build procedure?

Mac Model
Does not matter; because I wasn't able to build the ISO. However I have 16,1 Macbook Pro.

First Login Failed

Thank you for creating this! I’ve followed steps and got Manjaro installed. When I boot it, the login screen shows, but after I entered my password, the screen goes black. A while later, the fan ramps up and it shuts itself down. Would you please help me on that?

Graphics Issue

Hi there,

running into an issue where the display seems to be cutting out about 10 seconds into the installer. This happens at:

[ OK ] Started Load/Save RF Kill Switch Status Match

I know there was a similar issue on the arch-mpb gist, related to the amd graphics, so perhaps this is related.

The touch bar turns on about 3seconds after the display cuts out, so it seems like the installation process is still running, just no graphics.

I'm using the efi=noruntime boot flag.

Can't boot into Manjaro

Mac Model
Which year and model of MacBook are you experiencing the bug on?
2020 13" Intel MBP

Describe the bug
A clear and concise description of what the bug is.
I can't get passed the grub menu when booting into the USB. I get to the grub screen and can choose to boot from open source or proprietary drivers, can select time zone, etc., but when I finally choose to reboot, it will just boot back into MacOS.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Flash .iso to USB using Etcher
  2. Turn off secure boot
  3. Restart computer and select the EFI drive to boot from
  4. Select either boot with proprietary drivers or open source drivers
  5. It will always boot back into MacOS, even if I try to set the time zone

Calamares Initialization Failed

Mac Model
MBP 16,1 (2019)

Describe the bug
Cannot install Manjaro due to Calamares Initialization Failure.

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Boot into USB after flashing with iso (I used the 5.7 pre-release version (KDE) under 'download a latest release' on the installation wiki).

  2. Execute Step 7 on the installation wiki to sync time and install calamares-mbp.
-- I had to use -Sy instead of -S when installing calamares-mbp in order to install it with pacman

  3. Open the installer and see Calamares Initialization Failed Screen (could not load modules partition@partition)

If steps 2 and 3 are reversed (opening installer and selecting keyboard, then installing calamares-mbp) it fails during the install (after doing the partitioning) and relaunching the installer gives the same error screen.

Notes
I used bootcamp to make a windows partition, then shrunk it to open enough unallocated space for manjaro (128gb) before starting the installation process.
I used the refind boot manager as I could not see the flash drive on the one that pops up after holding the options key while booting.

Openbox packages super out of date

At this stage, there seems to be several Openbox packages that haven't been updated for a long time. At this stage Openbox cannot be compiled until the respective maintaners can update their packages.

Suspend broken

I followed the instructions with several linked ISOs on my Macbook pro 15,2 (with gnome 5.6 and 5.7, kde 5.6, xfce 5.6) and while it seems to mostly work fine, it stops responding to the built-in keyboard and trackpad when I suspend, and usually crashes shortly after.

[INFO] Wifi 4377 mbp15,4

Hi and thanks for making this repo, i have followed all the steps, everything seems to be working fine except the WiFi, currently im using my android with USB tethering, i have osx catalina and my wifi firmware seems to be 4377, i have copy pasted the files correctly from the ftp server provided:
'brcmfmac4377-pcie.Apple Inc.-MacbookPro15,4.txt'
'brcmfmac4377-pcie.bin'
'brcmfmac4377-pcie.clm_blob'

then i tried the wifi fix from aur and loaded the service and restarted, i then using iwd with iwctl and used device list
and seems to be empty, so i guess my firmware from catalina might not be supported.

also will the new checkm8 exploit on T2 chip make our lifes any easier ? i know i can change laptop but i have a mbp 15,4 from 2019 with touchbar from my company (i have permission to flash linux).
once again thanks for the work, was easy and simple to install linux with the pre installed kernel
