This only works on source code packages that follow the GNU build conventions, and which also include a 'make check' target. Run this script within the un-tarred source directory. And wait. A long time...
Try having the timing runs done over multiple cores. Might interfere with each other?
Would be useful to have this installed as a system-wide utility.
Don't assume all compiler options are truly independent, and try various perturbations, using a 2-opt like scheme.
This would allow for recompilation if saved with the original repository.
