brackets-spellcheck's Issues

Remember if spellchecking is enabled or disabled when navigating between files.

A lot of people disable spellchecking when working on source code, oftentimes they'll be navigating between files, if spellchecking was disabled in index.html it will still be enabled in about.html which is bad UX, not to mention how tiring it is to keep disabling it each time you open a file.

It would be great if the extension could remember its state during the session.

EDIT: perhaps making spellchecking disabled by default?

Replacement word bug?

Hi,

Having finally figured out how to get a replacement word displayed to replace a spelling mistake (its a shame it's at the bottom of the popup - took a while to notice it!) I think I've found a bug.

If I right click on a word indicated as incorrectly spelt but with an available replacement I'm offered the replacement as expected.
If I THEN right click on a incorrectly spelt word with no offered replacement I'm offered the replacement word from the last error that had a replacement rather than a blank.

Hope that makes sense...

<edit/>
Actually the whole right click thing seems a bit iffy...
Sometimes I'm told no replacement is available, sometimes the offered word is correct, sometimes I'm offered a replacement word from a previous right click, sometimes there's no option
</edit>

Thanks!

Update homepage on brackets extension manager

In the extension manager the homepage is currently set to https://stillat.com. It would be much more helpful to set https://github.com/JohnathonKoster/brackets-spellcheck. Pointing to github is typical, but I guess https://stillat.com/blog/2017/10/31/installing-linguistics-for-adobe-brackets would also be acceptable if you want to reference stillat.

Finding code & documentation for this extension took more steps than it should have, particularly due to the extension being called 'Alice - Spell Checking' in the extension manager but 'Linguistics' on its home page.

Meaning of entries in the dictionary

I was looking at the dictionary and it has words like

abide/JGSR
abider/M
abiding/Y
Abidjan/M
Abie/M
Abigael/M
Abigail/M
Abigale/M
Abilene/M
ability/IMES

what do the letters JSGR in abide/JGSR mean? what about others?

Getting Spellcheck working

Sorry to bother. Newbie here with limited skills, struggling to use this beautiful program for writing. But I need red underscores to flag typing/spelling errors.

I'm working at home on an iMac with OS X High Sierra.

I have installed Brackets 1.11 and a variety of extensions, including the two you mentioned.. as well as the spell-checking one. I can see under edit commands for spelling in a variety of languages. This seems to work on a simple text file. With a brown background, I get misspelled words in a harsh yellow that's hard to see. If I edit to correct and rerun, error yellow bands disappear.

But I also have your two extensions installed, and they would seem to work differently and allow red lines for me without having to manually trigger. That's what I want. But after installing, I don't get the dictionary selection at lower right, though I have a field there called "proofing options", though when I toggle to select " enable/disable the spell checker, nothing seems to happen. If I disable the 'other' spell-check, the optional languages disappear, but no dictionary choices appear lower right.

Any tips would be deeply appreciated.

Can not install

I can not figure out how to install these. If both directories are placed in the same folder (Brackets\extensions\user) then the main.js files conflict. No matter in which combination I try to add them I get Extension errors in the Brackets Extension manager. Running windows 10.

Adding words to the dictionary?

Hi, sorry to trouble you...
First I'd like to say how much I like your spell checker, it's doing a good job with my .md documentation. for an ongoing github project. I really like how unobtrusive it is.

I'm sure you've been asked this many times before (and apologies, I couldn't find an answer), but is there a way of adding words to the dictionary - I realize it can't be done through the UI at the moment?

I've just stumbled on "configurability" which is indicated as being spelt incorrectly.

Many thanks,

Andy B.

How to add new words to the dictionary?

Hello

I tried this spell checker. Is there any way to do something like aspell check on the document where one can correct mistakes and add new words to the dictionary, tell it to ignore words etc.? It seems like a read-only spell checker where it checks each word against dictionary and underlines it with a red swiggy if the word does not exist in the dictionary e.g.,

Can it do anything more than that or is that the only feature of this spell checker?

spanish, french, etc. dictionaries?

Thanks for the plugin. It is very nice to have different English dictionaries options....I would have loved to have the at least the Spanish and French spell-checking options as well! Is there any way to add them? Thanks and best wishes from Asuncion, Paraguay. Unfortunately i am not capable to code anything, so i rely as an end-user to the work of generous creative people like you.
