assimp's Issues

Abandoned project?

I'm thinking I'd like to use assimp from haskell. I was considering writing some bindings, but then I noticed yours. It hasn't been touched for years, and currently doesn't build, but it's a much better starting point than from scratch.

Would you be up for reviewing pull requests I send your way to bring this up to a usable state? Alternatively, would you be willing to make me maintainer on hackage, perhaps after I've demonstrated satisfactory changes in a fork?

Also, was there a technical reason for you dropping this? Did it turn out to be unnecessary for your needs, and you found an alternative solution? Or was it just a case of lost interest/time?

How to install?

I cloned this project into a new directory in my home dir. Running 'cabal install --extra-include-dirs /usr/include/assimp/' gives me:

Resolving dependencies...
Configuring assimp-0.1...
Building assimp-0.1...
Preprocessing library assimp-0.1...
cabal: can't find source for Graphics/Formats/Assimp in ., dist/build/autogen
cabal: Error: some packages failed to install:
assimp-0.1 failed during the building phase. The exception was:
ExitFailure 1

Am I doing something wrong?

Depends on c2hs

I was installing assimp and the dependency on c2hs is not listed. The build fails but installing c2hs with cabal works just fine.
