peepee.flipside's Issues

[Gameplay Exploit] Players Can Teleport Themselves Directly To the Enemy Spawn

This mod enables players to teleport themselves to the opposite side of the map. However the teams' spawns are also placed on opposite sides of the map. In other words, this allows a player from team A to teleport themselves from their own spawn (team A's) directly to team B's spawn. This drastically decreases the amount of time required to start spawn-camping possibly making it more efficient.

Steps to Perform the Exploit

This could be used to spawn-camp players:

  1. Spawn
  2. Teleport
  3. Walk a few steps back
  4. Wait for an enemy player to spawn
  5. Melee the enemy player
  6. Repeat from step 4.
  7. If killed repeat from step 1.

I tried this in a multiplayer match and managed to get 1 spawn-kill very easily, after that I stopped for obvious reasons.

Mitigations

Overall I don't think this is too much of a problem because it's already possible to spawn-camp normally and people aren't abusing that much either. However I thought of two potential ways to mitigate these issues in case it ever becomes necessary:

  1. Adding an initial cool-down to the teleport ability
  2. Randomizing spawns or adding alternative spawn locations

Variables for running dedicated

Just leaving this here until it's added to the readme perhaps, to help any like me trying to set this up. When running dedicated, the startup arguments needed are:

+setplaylistvaroverrides "Flipside 1 Smoke_wall 1 WallLocation 1"

This is for running with the smoke wall on the modified Glitch map.
