I have been looking for a good distributed knn package in spark to add a SMOTE estimator in our package mmlspark:

Would it be fine for me to port over the code in this repo there to be used for SMOTE since it is not yet in spark ml (and update it to the latest spark 2.3)? In our package we auto-generate pyspark and sparklyR wrappers for all estimators and transformers, so the KNN_IS estimator would have autogenerated wrappers for it. If you would advise against porting it over, would you be able to update this package to latest spark and upload it to maven central?
Please let me know if there are any issues.
