waterfall's Introduction

HTML Canvas/WebSockets Waterfall

This is a small experiment to create a waterfall plot with HTML Canvas and WebSockets to stream live FFT data from an SDR:

image

spectrum.js contains the main JavaScript source code for the plot, while colormap.js contains colormaps generated using make_colormap.py.

index.html, style.css, script.js contain an example page that receives FFT data on a WebSocket and plots it on the waterfall plot.

server.py contains a example Bottle and gevent-websocket server that broadcasts FFT data to connected clients. The FFT data is generated using GNU radio using a USRP but it should be fairly easy to change it to a different SDR.

How do I run this project?

How do I run this project?
Also - I need to integrate this with a javascript app. So I need to run phython AND the javascript server at the same time. thanks!

Using hackrf rather than usrp

Hello,
This implementation is very helpful, however, I am struggling to configure it such that it works with hackf rather than a usrp. I changed a bit of the init method to work with osmosdr rather than uhd, but I am getting no output on the werbserver. Does anyone have any tips?

json data structure for websocket

Dear Jeppe, I like your waterfall implementation very much and have connected it to an FFT stream from the LimeSDR. I am struggling with the json structure required by the script, could you share that ?
thanks a lot in advance
