I have a code snippet suggesting this is possible.

Each alert should be executed in a separate thread, the sound and email handlers will not run until the popup handler has finished, which does not happen until the user clicks OK on the message box. If the user misses the popup, they get no other notification

Windows version remains in memory even after exiting. Probably because the new LockMonitor creates a window frame that is not destroyed by the exit routine.
