beffsbrowser's Issues

Bug- Exceptions in the Casino Game

Known issue

I will fix it in the next release its due to a character limitation. I will move it to a label, hopefully that will fix it.

I will update this as needed.

Some Features Unusable (Read for details)

Some features will not work appropriate due to the file exception error- Hopefully if the fix of the file exception bug that is pending I will fix this by Version 1.6.2 - 1.6.3

I appologize for the inconvience.

Win10 IoT

I'm very interested in attempting to adapt this code for Win10 IoT (running on the Raspberry Pi 3). I hope to be able to use it to authenticate to a website and download an authorized file to a user-specified folder.

Can you foresee any issues, trouble spots?

[BUG] .Net Framework Exceptions within BeffsBrowser

A known issue with some features within BeffsBrowser is a rare .NET Framework Exception, generally this occurs if the file does not exist, or you navigate with an empty URL box, it will give an error when loading History, or when you open a unsupported file in EasyNotes.

BeffsBrowser 2.0 doesn't work properly on the Windows 10 Creators Update.

I've tried restarting BeffsBrowser via menu>Operations>RestartBeffsBrowser. I would test the latest commit but I don't know how to build it. I've also tried new copies downloaded straight from the Releases page.

I've downloaded the latest stable version and tried running it in a VirtualBox VM (Windows 10 Pro build 15063.413 64-bit) without installing it first by running "BeffsBrowser.exe" and clicking on the "BeffsBrowser" button in the resulting menu. As soon as the main browser window appeared, the .Net Framework complained about an unhandled exception as seen below.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

<configuration>
    <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

However, if I install it first by running the "BeffsBrowser.msi" file then run the EXE from earlier (or from the "BeffsBrowser" Program Files (x86) folder), I get an error about a program being in an incorrect format as seen below.

BeffsBrowser installed:

Text from the Details box after install:

Here's what it looks like after clicking Continue in those error messages:

issue3-no-browser-control

The progress bar is in a permanently indeterminate state when this problem occurs as well.

I figured that maybe installing Firefox would help in case there was a file that was used from the Firefox folder if it was installed, but that didn't help. I've also tried a reboot and that didn't help either.

This issue also seems to affect "Tappy Bird" in the "Arcade" window, as well as navigating to favorites via the "Favorites" button on the main window. Opening another tab via the new tab button on the toolbar also presents this issue. So far I haven't found any other places where this problem occurs.

The main reason I wanted to try out BeffsBrowser is to see how smooth GeckoFX worked and if it crashed with >80 tabs.

What's really strange is there's an "xul.dll" file in the same folder as "BeffsBrowser.exe" even though .Net says it can't find it.

Once BeffsBrowser is uninstalled, the first error shows up when trying to run it. If I reinstall it, the second error shows up.

If more info is required, I'll provide it.

Update Bug

This bug is ultimately annoying - you have to uninstall the previous version manually before you can do anything. A fix is in progress.

Install Error

After downloading the zip file and extracting all the folders it always gives me this error when I try to run the setup,

Application download did not succeed.
Check your network connection or contact your system provider.

[Full error removed. Issue is pending resolved.]

Bug - Navigation issues [Resolved]

This is another pesky bug that will also be fixed in Version 1.6.1

The cause was because of the navigation drop down - for whatever reason the button didn't work appropriately as a drop down. So it has been changed as per the change log. Refer to the change log for details.

[Bug] Flash Support

Not really in a hurry to fix this, however, it is still supported in major browsers, so I will take a look.

Flash is appearing not to be working and or not included. So I am going to find out more information, maybe it is that I don't have it installed on my computer, not sure. Will post more details soon.

[Bug] Webpage Titles not showing on Tabs

Currently using the following to complete the task:

Tabcontrol1.SelectedTab.Text = CType(Tabcontrol1.SelectedTab.Controls.Item(0), GeckoWebBrowser).DocumentTitle

Bug with Document Changelog

I fixed the issue, and don't see why it is still occuring but its always been a issue with this feature, so I am debating on removing it

Double Entries in History [Bug-Resolved/Details]

A bug - occuring when the entry of history is entered was writing it twice instead of one time.

The issue is Resolved, but will still happen, and expected to happen as that is how it is suppose to work on a select few websites e..g Youtube, Facebook. These sites update often making the browser page to seemingly "Reload" making the event fire again.

There is really no way around that from occuring, so I will not be resolving the matter any further than it has been solved.

Bug : The .exe alone will not install the application.

This reason is unknown and will not be fixed in the shorterm future.

If you have this issue, please use the zip. This will only apply to versions 1.5.0 to 1.5.2

I am publishing 1.5.3 as a patch to fix a few things I didn't do before the 1.5.2 release, and will attempt to also squish this bug also.

If it fails however I will not post the .exe only anymore and you will have to extract the zip and locate the .exe as its always been done.

Browser Restore Bugs

There is some issues with browser restore currently being resolved, one being an exception in the .net framework caused by being stuck in a loop, through a data file, the other is the disappearence of the data file that holds the websites being restored, when there is none, on intial installs, it can get stuck opening hundreds of tabs, causing issues.

Some of the first fixes will be in the release coming out later today, but the rest of the fixes will be released in the future, possibly in the patch release.

Multiple Monitor issues

Some users report problems when using multiple monitors, ultimately, the goal here with this issue is to stablize multiple monitor scenerios.

Security -

This is also viewed as a security issue. Will be resolved in 2.3.1, hopefully.

[Bug]Navigation Bugs 2.4.X

There is a known issue with the latest release, it has since been marked as a pre-release, some sites seem to not be working, or navigating to. It is very possible it has to do with the newer updates of Windows 10, where similarly, Google Chrome broke.

This issue seems to be impacting HTTPS sites, this is being looked into, however, Due to a file corruption issue, there will be no further updates at this time, and this issue will go unresolved until Krypto is released in the summer.
