I realize this is probably me setting it up wrong, but when I try and run: latexmk homework.tex it stops and says:

I'm relatively new to LaTeX, but I really hope to begin using it. What am I missing here?

The latex will not compile without the texlive-science package, and possibly some others. Can you put the dependencies in the readme to avoid extra time spent troubleshooting?

One of my professors likes to number his problems as if the homework was really one giant homework, instead of multiple weekly assignments. As in, problem 1 on homework 2 is really problem 7 for example.

I noticed that the header still says problem 1 on the first page instead of problem x, though the problem numbers are correct from the second page onwards.

It's not a biggie, but hopefully, it can be fixed soon :)

I would like to be able to add more than one name in authors for teamed assignements.

First off, this template looks very neat, good job!

Question: from what I understood in your LaTeX code, the section count automatically increments. The counter is used for the numbering, but it is also possible to specify the number by argument when beginning a new problem. How hard would it be to enable this:

\begin{homeworkProblem}[2.2] % I AM STARTING PROBLEM 2.2 !!!
    Give an appropriate positive constant \(c\) such that \(f(n) \leq c \cdot
    ....
\end{homeworkProblem}

What's the goal of having the compiled .pdf file under version control?
