Breaking this out from #1 since I've now added a userpref to the iPhone app to download speaker photos.

At present - we're downloading the image that the speaker has provided. On the iPhone this is shown as a 50px wide image (height scaled accordingly).

This all works - but the download takes a long time with big images.

It also takes a fair bit of storage on the device.

The mobile apps need a small icon for download. The server is far more powerful to handle the scaling than the mobile devices.

While developing the iPhone app I found I could do with a few changes to the REST API ;)

Most of these could be handled by extracting info from the full session list - but on low power/low CPU mobile devices it would be far nicer to have a call to get the info directly/simply.

2. Some kind of metadata call - give me all levels and labels for the current JZ - complete with URL to icon.

3. On the two above JSON responses along with the complete session list (http://javazone.no/incogito10/rest/events/JavaZone%202010/sessions) some kind of last updated timestamp. Would save a lot of processing when nothing has changed ;)

The level filters advanced or hardcore are not behaving as expected. It seems to me that hardcore highlights the advanced sessions, while advanced doesn't highlight anything at all.
