There is no capability at the moment to automatically re-sync/fetch the new data from MODIS or AURA.
For Aura, there is the wget command, however, I have yet to manage to get MODIS to download with wget.

The problem is that bot file suffixes are the date of modification, and so cannot be predicted for simple url production. There must be an approach that scrapes the names of the files so that they can be triggered for download.

The NCEP has an automated download option with the wget command.
