access-robot's Issues
Background drawable scales incorrectly in main UI
Should be a quick fix. Might as well port resources for varying screen densities as well. Yay~
Port to phones?
Due to block sizing issues in the programming GUI, app currently supports tablet devices exclusively. Porting to phones would significantly increase the number of devices within our reach, but also pose a pretty big UX issue (block size/max width v. screen dimensions and preserving custom touch target size). Still, this is something that deserves thoughtful consideration/iteration.
Ultrasonic range finder functionality isn't implemented
Last I checked, we don't actually use the URF in the programming GUI. This is a pretty prominent part of Mozi and one that's highlighted in the parts activity, so we should really work on implementing ASAP.
Needs an activity to load Mozi Arduino code
Blockly GUI needs further customization
This could entail editing Blockly SVG shapes and implementing a custom typeface—small details to make the GUI feel more unique to Mozi.
Also believe there should be in-context help on first programming GUI run-through. User should receive a walkthrough on connecting to their robot through the app. Super important!
Build out assembly video activity
Current implementation of assembly video: tap build button on main UI --> launch full-screen video
Few issues here:
- Experience is jarring: deep dive into ~20 minute technical video with no preface/orientation
- No text version of assembly walkthrough (accessibility issue)
- ~20 minute video without markers or assembly steps clearly indicated (should either cut into chapters or provide markers)
I think the video should live within an activity, providing an option for text instructions (could be a toggle, could be placed beneath the video—perhaps implementation would differ on tablet v. phones). We should either allow users to bookmark progress in the assembly video, or—if using chapters—track completed steps and keep that data in SharedPreferences.
