• What is 42?
  42 is a coding school, recognized as one of the best in the world, with an innovative and disruptive educational model, based on a peer-to-peer, project-based, and gamified learning system. Founded in Paris in 2013, 42 is present in more than 30 cities worldwide, offering anyone over 17 years old the opportunity to learn to program for free. Despite having many students who joined 42 without any prior code experience, the school’s employability rate is 100%.

• How does the Piscine work?
  The Piscine is a phase of the selection process that lasts 4 weeks and involves face-to-face experience at the 42 Lisboa campus. This is typically a very intense period of great commitment and enormous learning. During the Piscine, you’ll discover a lot about the basics of programming and the importance of working as a team.

• What are the Piscine's selection criteria?
  We do not reveal the selection criteria, but we can tell you this: candidates who work hard, make progress, work as a team and never give up are the ones that best fit our student profile. We don’t focus too much on who can finish the exercises first, but rather who is motivated and enthusiastic about continuing learning.

• Why is the Piscine called Piscine?
  "Piscine” is the French word for swimming pool. It has this name because, during this phase of the process, you’ll dive with the other candidates in a massive world of programming – and learn to swim in it.

• Does 42 have ownership rights to any code that students develop during the program?
  No. 42 Lisboa students have full ownership of all the code they create on campus, in both curricular or personal projects. We don’t want to stop our students from making big strides and starting their path until they become intellectual property millionaires.

• O que é a 42?
  A 42 é uma escola de programação, reconhecida como uma das melhores do mundo, com um modelo pedagógico inovador e disruptivo, baseado num sistema de aprendizagem peer-to-peer, project based e gamificado. Fundada em Paris em 2013, a 42 está presente em mais de 30 cidades em todo o mundo, oferecendo a qualquer pessoa com mais de 17 anos a oportunidade de aprender a programar de forma gratuita. Embora muitos dos alunos tenham entrado na 42 sem qualquer experiência prévia com código, a taxa de empregabilidade da escola aproxima-se dos 100%.

• Como funciona a Piscine?
  A Piscine é uma fase do processo de seleção que dura 4 semanas e que implica a experiência presencial no campus da 42. Este é tipicamente um período muito intenso, de grande empenho e enorme aprendizagem. Durante a Piscine, vais descobrir muito sobre as bases da programação e sobre a importância de trabalhar em equipa.

• Quais são os critérios de seleção da Piscine?
  Não revelamos os critérios de seleção. Mas podemos contar-te isto: os candidatos que se empenham muito, progridem, trabalham em equipa e nunca desistem são os que melhor se encaixam no perfil de aluno 42. Não avaliamos tanto quem consegue acabar os exercícios primeiro, mas antes quem está motivado e entusiasmado para continuar a aprender.

• Porque é que a Piscine se chama Piscine?
  “Piscine” é a palavra francesa para piscina. Tem este nome porque durante esta fase do processo vais mergulhar com os outros candidatos num enorme mundo de programação – e aprender a nadar no mesmo.

• A 42 tem direitos de propriedade sobre qualquer código que os alunos desenvolvam durante o programa?
  Não. Os alunos da 42 Lisboa têm total propriedade de todo o código que criarem no campus, em projetos do programa ou pessoais. Não queremos impedir os nossos alunos de fazerem grandes avanços e começarem o seu caminho até se tornarem milionários da propriedade intelectual.
