Isabela,
We've developed an open-source extension to JupyterLab which allows drag-and-drop construction of web-based dashboards. I'd like to get the community's feedback on it, and I wondered if it would be appropriate to demo at the Jupyter Community Forum. On the one hand, it's open-source, BSD license (we haven't made the repo public yet, but that's just because it's still pretty raw); on the other, we are a commercial vendor and we are cognizant of sensibilities regarding advertising. I will be guided by you; is this appropriate?

Hi Isabela --

The inability to reconnect to a running notebook or recover output when the server is interrupted is an accessibility issue.
We are working with 22 research institutions in Latin America and sub-Saharan Africa to establish a JupyterHub platform to provide computational support and relevant installed tools to researchers without high-performing computers. This group of researchers is responsible to adapting crops for climate change and for resource-poor farmers; but they cannot process the large data coming out of their own programs and from publicly available datasets.

The power and internet instability in many of the countries means that they are continuously losing their work.

I would love to discuss with you (or anyone interested in helping on this).

Hi Isabela,
my name is Sahra-Marie and I’m currently writing my bachelor’s thesis at the FH Johanneum in Austria about open source projects and how to contribute or rather the whole process behind it. Since we have used Jupyter to learn the basics of programming and another ongoing project where we work on the JupyterHub installation at our institution I would like to focus on the ecosystem around Jupyter for my thesis.
I wondered if you would agree to answer me some questions in an interview about your own experience and how/why you started to contribute to open source. I would also be interested in the process behind the ecosystem for example how it gets decided which new features to implement and how the development of the single repositories gets synchronized to support these features, if you know something about it.

I'm reaching out to you after I attended the Alt-text workshop that you and Mars recently organized for the Scientific Python community. I'm the Co-Founder of the RSE Asia Association and am looking for a similar workshop to be run for the members of the RSE Asia community.

RSE Asia was launched in 2021 with the motive to promote the research software engineering community & profession in Asia. It is a completely volunteer run organization. We are keen to promote an understanding of accessibility of anything related to research software engineering through our activities. In the same vein, I'm reaching out to you if you would be interested in hosting a workshop for our community.

We would be happy to work on the Scientific Python blog that you discussed in your previous workshop. I read in your profile that you also work for improving accessibility in the Jupyter communities - do you have any ideas related to it that can be taught to the members of the RSE Asia community? Or if there is some other idea that you might have, then we can discuss on that. Your recent Alt-text workshop was itself very engaging and quite a nice learning experience for me - so if you would be available to teach some of those skills to our community then that would be super helpful! Open to your ideas & to discuss further!
