May be less compatible for non-linux systems (although current intention is for linux and windows for linux to be functional)
Often /tmp is running /tmpfs (ramdisk) which may be faster, however disk speed is likely not the main bottleneck and additionally may have additional space constraints which could be difficult to deal with.

Not sure if its related to large files or correction of Xref table in possibly malformed PDF, however on such an occasion that I got the "PdfReadWarning: Xref Table not zero-indexed, ID numbers for objects will be corrected" message python ate effectively all my ram and took very long.
Perhaps something in pdfcrop corrected this previously as I didn't notice the issue when running pdfcrop first.
Options for things such as Language selection would be very useful
While pdfcrop doesn't appear to reduce quality, some PDFs don't play nice with it and most documents are probably already cropped correctly.
Should be an optional switch.
